Took mostly Honors classes, along with 1 AP Class (My school only offered 3 AP Class until this year).</p>

<p>Scores:
ACT: Hopefully a 30+ this week. I have been prepping for the past four months now.
SAT Subject: Will Take U.S History and Literature in January.</p>

<p>Extracurriculars include:
Newsletter Club (11th- Founder and President 12- President and Head Sports Editor)
The school's first newspaper. The clubs consists of writers ranging from 9th graders to 12th graders. </p>

<p>Helping Hands Club (12th- Founder and President)
Did a lot of community service. Held food and clothes drives and got many of the students involved. Students would volunteer almost every weekend.</p>

<p>Intercultural Dialogue Club (10th- Member, 11th- Member 12-Member)
REALLY got involved in the community. Held programs at our schools almost every month about different cultures. My school is an international in Connecticut by the way. It is a very fun and interesting club.</p>

<p>Film Club (11th- Treasurer 12th- President)
Watched movies weekly with a group of students. After watching the films, we would make class discussions on what we liked about the films and what we disliked. </p>

<p>Model United Nations (11th- Member 12th- Member)
We to the Yale University Conference. Will attend that this year.</p>

<p>Environmental/Recycle Club (10th Member, 11th- Member)
Put Recycling bins around the schools so students could get into the habit of recycling. We would pick up the recycled cans,paper, etc. every Friday of every week. </p>

<p>Member of the ALA (American Library Association) (11th- Member)
Our library is kind of a wreck. So, we made the ALA in our school in order to fix the library. Every week we would make plans or ideas on how we could fix the library. We then organized the place by taking out old and useless books and putting in new ones.</p>

<p>Student Government (10th- Representative, 11th- Representative, 12th- Representative)
I was a class Representative since my sophomore year, and I am this year. I would gather my class and talk about the problems that they were facing in the dorm or school. </p>

<p>Robotics Team (11th- Member)
I was in the support branch. I was basically a journalist. In every competition I would take notes on what the team did and then transfer the notes into our main book. We won many awards and went to the World Championships in St. Louis last year. </p>

Played volleyball every week with our English teacher. I love volleyball!</p>

<p>Why does it help for JHU and NU? Do they really focus on ECs?!</p>

<p>Are you applying as an international? Are you applying for aid? That surely will matter.</p>

<p>Still, make yourself shine with your intangibles and other essays, because that will help you a lot in your applications.</p>

<p>Since NU and JHU are so competitive they tend to look at ECs when evaluating people more than the less selective colleges like Rutgers.</p>

<p>I think for schools like northwestern and Johns Hopkins your ec’s are competitive. While I don’t agree with the above CCer that your ec’s are the best I’ve ever seen, they are as good or even better than those of kids who apply to NU/JHU.</p>

<p>Also, you have a long list of ECs which might of made “STJOHNSON” say they are the best he has ever seen</p>

<p>I usually just take practice tests and study grammar (awful at grammar) and during the ACT watch your pace because the time goes by quickly other than that no. The math section is straight forward unlike the SAT and for the science section don’t bother with understanding what the questions is asking for or even what the passage says do your best to search for key words and match them to the answer choices</p>
