Chance for Northwestern?

<p>I sent in my ED for Northwestern yesterday and I would like to get another opinion on my chances, considering I think all of my family and friends are too biased in assuming I will get in.</p>

<p>GPA: 4.0 all throughout high school
Rank: 7th out of 210
ACT: 29, BUT I am taking it again in September
Senior Schedule: AP English, Physics, AP French, AP Statistics, Spanish 3, AP Government
Extracurriculars:</p>

<p>Student Council: 4 years, Honor Council Sophomore, Vice President Junior, President Senior, Ohio Association of Student Council’s All Ohio Student Council 2013, OASC Summer Workshop 2 years, 6+ OASC events
National Honors Society: 2 years, President
Junior Class Officer: 1 year, Vice President
Young Democrats: 4 years, President – 3 years
French Club: 4 years, Co-President – 1 year
Mock Trial: 4 years, 2 year regional qualifier, 2011-2012 Ohio Center for Law Related Education ‘s Outstanding Witness at Regional Competition, 2012-2013 Ohio Center for Law Related Education’s Outstanding Attorney at District Competition
Scholastic Bowl: 3 years, 2 Varsity, (on TV)
Golf: 3 year Varsity, 4-year scholar athlete
Autumn Theater: 4 years, 4 productions, 12 performances
Spring Musical: 4 years, 4 productions, 28+ performances</p>

<p>I feel as if my essays were very thoughtful and well-written, I am in process of scheduling an interview, and I have visited, toured, and had an information session on campus. Also, I have two teacher recommendations and two others, from my Student Council advisor and the Superintendent. </p>

<p>Not a day goes by where I don't get lost in thought thinking about the day I get that acceptance/rejection letter! It's safe to say this whole thing is making me lose my mind! Haha.</p>

<p>It’s a reach until you get the ACT score to 32 or higher. Otherwise, you need to have incredible essays</p>

<p>I plan to major in either Journalism, International Communications, or Political Science. Does anyone have any other suggestions of schools I should apply to if you don’t think I’ll get into NU? I also applied to Loyola University of Chicago.</p>

<p>Journalism makes me think of Columbia, see if that will work for you…You’ll need a hell of an essay and an ACT near 34 to help offer a fighting chance.
But for NW, I think you ACT will cause issues; <em>If</em> they defer you, hopefulyl you’ll be able to submit an update that will offer you a fresh shot once RD shows up. See if you can get anything interesting (awards, grades, etc) to go with that for better RD chances JIC.
