Your EC’s are good, you have a really good demonstrated passion with your church/religion, keep that up. Your courseload sounds good, your GPA could be higher… I think, if it will get your GPA up and you’re not planning on doing anything with it, taking regular calc would be best. Just my opinion.
Notre Dame is kind of hard to tell… I know someone who was accepted into Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Stanford, and got rejected by Notre Dame. It’s a reach, but I don’t think it’s too far out there, especially with your legacy note and participation with your church.
You didn’t mention where you live… I think U of M is match, but I heard it’s really hard for out of state students to get into U of NC. Provided you live there, I think that’s a match too.
Thanks for chancing me… and mentioning the whole only dance major thing, that’s really interesting and now I’m kind of considering it so thanks!

Hmm, good course load, ok GPA, fine SAT. I think youve got a good shot and your legacy status and dedication to the catholic faith only make those chances better. IF you write great essays and apply EA, id say ou have a 65-70% chance of getting in :)

Are you sure I should apply early action to Notre Dame? Isnt that only for the applicants that look outsandingly strong in comparison to the rest of the applicant pool? I dont think that I would be considered in that group… Sorry if I missunderstood EA.

Notre Dame is one of the few universities that says it’s actually better until you wait regular decision to apply. Apparently they like to see what they’re going to get with the rest of the applications, and want to keep room for the ones they like out of those.

kirtip based on your EC’s, legacy status, ACT score, and your course load I’d say you have a pretty decent shot at Notre Dame. If you were an in state student in NC I’d say UNC would be a match, but if you are an out of state student then you still have a pretty decent shot. It is up to you whether or not you want to take AP Calculus. Make sure you do well in whatever courses you decide to take. I’m not certain about UMich, so I couldn’t chance you for that school. Good luck!

Thank you for your suggestions, I appreciate them.

And thanks to you homflysmith! I live in Michigan so it would be OOS for UNC, which makes it considerably tougher but I figure its worth a shot. Thanks for your input!

UNC is going to be very tough considering you are out of state, I’d consider it a mid-reach.

Notre Dame seems to be a match, judging by the fact that you are a legacy and have decent test scores. Just try to break 2100 when you take the real SAT.

UMich seems like a good match to me.

Also, take AP Calc. Course rigor is very important, and if it looks like you slacked off senior year, it can be a deal breaker.

Thanks! Ill probably take AP Calc in that case. My senior schedule will be AP CALC, AP ENGLISH, Honors Physics, Forensics, History elective, American Government, and a Retreat leading advanced theology class.

Thanks par72 I have looked at it. Do you think that I should apply there because I would struggle to get into ND? Or just giving me another option…
