Your stats seem to be in the ball park for accepted students. You should apply. Given the low overall acceptance rate for NU, no one can say more.

Thanks…I have a lot of reaches though, so unless NU is closer to a match, I’m not sure I’ll apply.

What do you consider a ‘match’ to be?

Your SAT’s are above average for NU students? Your Grades are at least average. IMO, your ECs are fine, showing dedication and proficiency esp. with the research and the Black Belt. Your Math II is a touch low, perhaps, but not seriously so. Sounds like a match to me.

Assuming your essays and recs are great, you have an excellent shot at NU or another school in this tier.

The problem – these schools have <20% acceptance rates. Many students with your credentials are accepted by NU. Many with your credentials are not. It’s impossible for anyone in this forum to say anything more than “You should apply”.

Thanks…I know I’m a good candidate but also that NU is SO hard to get into!

The only thing I know 100% for certain, is that if you don’t apply, your chances of admission are zero.
