Sorry for the length. Please be honest ill chance back.

I’m having trouble believing this is a real post.
Of course you are a viable candidate for ANY school.
Good luck, but I don’t think you need it.

Not sure how you had time to join all those clubs with strong commitment, since at most schools joining a sport or two severely limits enrollment in other school clubs. Otherwise, GPA is the only downfall. 36 and a football player? That’s impressive if it’s true. What are you’re future goals? And why did you take so many SAT subject tests??
Good luck at UChicago, although you have a real high chance at NYU (great school btw)

Your UW GPA is low for both NYU and UChicago, but other than that, your stats are phenomenal.
I’d say high reach for UChic and high match / low reach for NYU.

Ok, honestly, how do you even get the time to do all of that? You seem like you could get into any school competitively, even with your GPA. At my school you can take a max of 2 AP’s your junior year, how were you able to take 9?

Do you sleep? lol. I almost feel like you are ■■■■■■■■, like, “oh yeah I grew up in a low income household, I raised myself, I have perfect scores on everything, I took 20 AP courses with all 5’s, and btw I’m the captain of the football team.”

ANY school will be impressed by your resume, I repeat. NYU and UChicago? I got straight B’s this past year and I could get into NYU if I applied ED. Shoot for higher. You are seriously underselling yourself, you could definitely get aid

Your GPA is on the low side, but the rest of your app is stellar. If you can raise that GPA just a little schools would be begging for you to attend. I’d say match for NYU and probably low reach/reach for UChicago.

A few things to clarify,
1)
I’ve only completed 8 AP classes and by the end of high school I would have taken 14.
I’ve taken 10 AP exams so far.
Sophomore Year:
Biology
Environmental Science(Self Study)
World History
European History(Self Study)
Junior Year:
Chemistry
US History
English Language
Psychology
Computer Science
Macro/Micro Economics each are 1 semester.
2)
At my school some kids take 3 sports I only took two and track was pretty easy.
3)
By Low-Income I mean 50k-65k for a family of three kids and a single mother.
4)
I’ve had straight A’s for the most part during 10th and 11th grade but during 9th grade I had an F and a C in the first semester.
5)
I know my scores and EC’s are good but won’t my GPA weigh them down?
Also I manage my time efficiently and I’m a really good test taker, but sometimes a little lazy(GPA). Will that affect my chances?

I’d say NYU cas would be EASY for you considering your national and regional awards, awesome test scores, outstanding leadership positions, football, and lower income. Keep in mind though that NYU is not just one school, there’s many different schools and many different campuses. I’ve heard that the Abu Dhubai campus (engineering) is one of the hardest to get into, along with the Stern business school and NYU’s fine arts school, of course.

UChicago is much more selective than NYU (an average admit rate of 8.8% in comparison to NYU’s 30%, but don’t be fooled if you’re applying to one of the more selective NYU colleges, their acceptance rates are much lower) but I still think you’d be a very competitive applicant with all of your awards, positions, and test scores. As other posters have said, your GPA is your only drawback, which I think adcoms will overlook if you wow them with your ECs and essays. The only thing I’d feel bad about is that there may not be enough slots for everything you’ve done! LOL
