Chance for NYU Stern grades underqualified

<p>Hey guys,
I'm a junior right now in high school and am getting started with the college admissions process after visiting a bunch of school over Spring Break. I want to ED to Stern for early decision and USC Marshall( My aunt went here) and EA Babson for regular as my top three choices. So if you guys could chance me that'd be amazing. </p>

<p>Grades:
2100 SAT( 750 math 740 writing 610 reading)
2120 Super Scored(750 math 740 writing 630 reading)</p>

<p>Taking subject tests in June and one AP in May.</p>

<p>GPA:
Freshman year: 3.44/5
Sophomore year: 3.66/5
Junior year: 3.8/5 </p>

<p>Sports:
1 year on JV tennis
3 years on Varsity Tennis- will be Captain my senior year
Possible recruit at NYU, can play at most D3 schools.</p>

<p>Extracurriculars:
-Vice President of Future Business Leaders of America
-President and Founder of the Marketing and Banking Club
-Marketing team won 2nd place in the Massachusetts School Bank Association competition
-Entrepreneurship team won 1st place in the state of Massachusetts for Future Business leaders of America, will go on to compete at nationals in San Antonio Texas
-25 hrs of Community Service freshman year, 50 hrs Community Service Sophomore Year, 75 hours of Community Service Junior year
-Founder and owner of a start up company
-participated in the NECINA IBM entrepreneurship class
-worked at a restaurant and a tennis club teaching tennis
-Candidate for internship at a small local bank</p>

<p>I take it this is your weighted GPA? If so, you really are underqualified :. I remember reading that Stern doesn’t even consider those with a GPA under 3.85 (out of 4.0), although I could be wrong. A 2100 on the SAT is decent, but it really doesn’t compensate for your grades. I would try to get around a 2250 and involve yourself in some more ECs, especially those business related. I originally wanted to go to Stern, but I realized that I didn’t really have a shot. The acceptance rate is low (10%?), and my EC’s weren’t that strong. If you’re planning on getting your MBA, I’d just go ahead and apply to their college of arts and sciences and major in Economics. Then you can go and apply to Stern’s MBA program. You’d probably have a better shot at that, assuming you do well in college. Good luck, though! With some hard work you can still make it.</p>
