Hi, my friend just won two medals in the recent Athen Olympia competition this sumeer; but her academy is below average (SAT 980 and ranks 545/895). She wants to apply for Harvard, do you think she will get in? Please give me as many comments as you can.

Which sport? Winning an Olympic medal is an amazing achievement that will certainly be considered by the committee, whether it is enough to overcome poor scores I really don't know. I'm guessing not, since your friend is barely in the top half of her class and has mediocre SATs to match.

Gold medalist Sarah Hughes got into Harvard (and Yale), but she also had strong academic stats. However, if your friend is a medalist in a sport that Harvard competes in, then that might provide even a bigger boost, since she could be a recruited athlete. But in her specific case, I would still consider her a long shot with those academic marks.

christina are you from houston texas?

i'd say go for it

she doesn't want me to reveal her name........but anybody can easily find out
