chance for only 2 colleges

I don't want to waste everyone's time by having you guys chance me on my matches/safeties, so can you please chance me on my two reaches? Thank you :)

Male class of '11
South Asian from Texas

Chances for Northwestern and USC for chemical engineering

ACT: 31 (35 Math 32 English)
PSAT: 211 (national merit commended scholar)
SAT: 1900 (760 math) probably not going to send
SAT Subject Tests: 750 Math I 730 Math II

class rank: 50/800

3.7 unweighted gpa, our school does some weird weighted gpa scale

AP classes: World History (2), English Lang (2), Calculus AB (5), Chem (4), Psych (didn't take AP Test) and I'm signed up for AP Physics C (both of them), AP Bio, AP English Lit, and AP Calculus BC for senior year

have taken dual credit US History A and B and will be taking dual credit Macroeconomics next year

125 community service hours
tutored as a job for 2 hours per week all of junior year

ECs: member of marching band 9-12, will most likely continue in college and named student leader for senior year and among best marchers for both junior and senior year season

member of math and science team 10-12

thanks for the chances!

What are the colleges, and what are your stats?

haha sorry, accidentally pressed enter and submitted the post without writing my stuff down first. it’s been edited now! haha :D

oh, and forgot the mention, retaking ACT in september to boost it up to either a 32 or 33

Most likely rejection at Northwestern.

what about USC?

Seeing as you didn’t pass 2 of the 4 AP exams you took, it’ll likely be a bad image for the admissions officers…

Low to mid reach at NU
Match at USC

Using ACT scores only

Agree with poster above. My advice: Do not submit your SAT I. Your ACT is so much higher. You also may want to take a different SAT II. Both Math 1 and Math 2 don’t look the greatest together. It’s better to take one or the other.

If you get the chance,
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/968749-chance-me-hamilton-dartmouth-vanderbilt.html

bsmd11: i thought admissions officers wouldn’t really mind that because i did get high B’s/low A’s in those classes, just a bad ap test score. im not naturally gifted in those areas, there are people that were lazy and got lower grades than me in both but got 5’s on both, ugh  but hey, thats why im going for engineering, because it requires no english or history! haha

thanks jshain, im glad to see that usc is still a viable option and nu is possible haha :D

btw, i didn’t note this in the post, but how bad will it look that i got a 24 on the ACT reading section? every other section was a 32 except math which was a 35

thanks puggly123!

Selective colleges look at your COMPOSITE score, so don’t worry about it.

awesome. thanks for the info r0adTo3b!

Maybe you could retake the ACT again. With hardcore studying and practice, you may be able to raise it to at least a 33.

yea puggly, im taking the september ACT and will probably send that one and im going to send senior transcript after first 9-weeks (my school does block scheduling) which will include AP Bio, Physics C: mech, and English Lit. my rank will probably increase a little bit.

anyone else?

bump bump bumpity bump

not a single other person can chance me?

ok, i know at least one more person can chance…
