So, you’d be applying for junior year??

Yes. I would be grade 11 if I do get admitted there. And can someone offer some comments.
Thanks

I’m kinda new to College Confidential, so don’t trust my opinion that much. I think you have a good shot at any of the other top-tier schools, like maybe Choate, Hotchkiss, and maybe even St. Pauls. But, I think Exeter would be a reach. They only accept 25 students into 11th grade, and, not to be racists, but being Asian no longer has as much ‘pull’ as it used to. I’m applying for Andover, but as a repeat sophomore. Here are my stats: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-chances/776559-chance-me-im-junior-living-honduras-who-wants-go-andover-choate-2.html#post1063221104</a> I am also in a Pre-IB program. Now, if I were you, I think you should think about staying in your present school, since IB is considered to be very good. Or maybe you can check out George School, since your already Pre-IB.

Thanks for your reply. Do you know how many people apply for a spot going to grade 1?. And I’ve talked with a teacher there, and they said they were letting 50 people in this year for grade 11.

Oh, wow. 50 people is a lot! I think you might actually have a good chance. I’m not sure how many people are applying to grade 11 alone, but you might be able to find it on their website, or on boardingschoolreview.com. I believe its somewhere around 250 students for Junior year, but I might be wrong.

Actually, I think I might apply to Exeter now :D

I might be interpreting this incorrectly, but if they contacted you first, isn’t it more a matter of them hoping you come, rather than you hoping they let you come?

It sounds like you’re being recruited, and why would a school recruit someone and then deny them admission?

But, as I come to think of it, it doesn’t really make sense. Exeter just contacted you out of the blue? That makes no sense. And, how did they know you wanted to go to boarding school? Are you sure you didn’t contact them first, because its totally random –>Exeter just contacts a kid from Canada?

Just because they contact you doesn’t mean they will accept you. He probably wrote them a letter…the way he phrased it confused yall

To all who are confused about him getting that letter:
There are math tests such as AMC and Mathcounts and other stuff, what prep schools and colleges do is, they get lists of high scoring individuals and send them a letter to apply to Exeter or whatever place. It, by no means, guarantees admission, because admission can not be soley based on amc scores, if that makes any sense.

Thank you Ccc999, yes I was contracted because of my high score on the AMC 10.

I think if there are 50 openings 1/2 are females & 1/2 males- so think more like 25 spots
-the higher the grade the less new students they take
