Chance for Philosophy

Applied: UCLA, UCSD (TAG), UCI (TAG), UCD (TAG)

Major: Philosophy

Major Pre-reqs: Completed

IGETC: Completed

Units: 63

GPA: 3.2 (two Fs from my first year of CC--upward grade trend)

Essay: 7.5-8/10

Ecs: Founder/President of Philosophy Club, over 200 hours of volunteer work at school events, 16 hours a week at a part time job throughout the 3 years.

Do you have a 3.2 right now, or you are planning to have a 3.2 at the end of fall??

If you are expecting a 3.2 at the end of fall…you have a small chance at ucla, but still a chance. Maybe like ~25%

If you are doing well this semester and your gpa is like 3.4 or 3.5 you have a good shot like 65+%

I was accepted to UCSD and UCI for Philosophy last year with a 3.2, and without TAG. SO I imagine you should be in at both of them.

You’re in at the schools you tagged. UCLA will be a reach. Like Eshug1 asked, it really depends on whether you will have a 3.2 GPA at the end of this semester or already have that GPA prior to the release of fall grades.

Either way, if you can bring that GPA up to a 3.4, you will be competitive for UCLA. Philosophy at UCLA has a 68% transfer admittance rate with a 3.49 as the average GPA admitted.

I will have the 3.2 with fall grades included. I hope my extracurriculars and essay help balance out my application.

Your extracurriculars, prereqs completed, and upward grade trend will definitely look good in the eyes of the admission officers. Depending on how well your essay is to them, then I would say you’re in at UCLA. UC holistic approach ftw.

Not so sure about UCLA.

yeah i agree im not so sure about being in at ucla with a 3.2

Prolly not LA, but most prolly not any other schools

sorry i meant to say prolly no LA, but most prolly all the other schools…sorryyy
