GPA: 3.2 (two Fs from my first year of CC--upward grade trend)

Essay: 7.5-8/10

You’re in at the schools you tagged. UCLA will be a reach. Like Eshug1 asked, it really depends on whether you will have a 3.2 GPA at the end of this semester or already have that GPA prior to the release of fall grades.

Either way, if you can bring that GPA up to a 3.4, you will be competitive for UCLA. Philosophy at UCLA has a 68% transfer admittance rate with a 3.49 as the average GPA admitted.

Your extracurriculars, prereqs completed, and upward grade trend will definitely look good in the eyes of the admission officers. Depending on how well your essay is to them, then I would say you’re in at UCLA. UC holistic approach ftw.
