Good SAT’s, good grades, (no. 1 doesn’t hurt). You are a solid candidate but the process is fickle. Good luck

I would say you have a good chance. But taking into account your ethnicity I’m fairly certain you would get in.

The fact is that there just aren’t very many African-American students with qualifications like yours, so you will be in demand at many highly selective colleges. You still may not be accepted at all of the very most selective colleges (including Yale), but I would be very surprised if you didn’t get into several of them. (This assumes there isn’t some hidden bad thing in your background.) Make sure you apply to a number of schools, and not just a few. But you absolutely should include schools like Yale in your list.

Congratulations, you just got in. :D

Seriously…
If it were only the stats, I’d say Yale is a reach for everyone, yourself included.
However, considering your URM status, I will be VERY surprised if you get rejected with all of the academic, extracurricular and test performance you have told us about.

Two recommendations I have though:
-Your main essay about your dad - make sure it does not sound maudlin because that’s a trap people often fall into. Don’t seek pity, display yourself as strong.
-About the recommendations…Yale wants 2 recommendations from teachers and I saw only one. You need to have two letters of recommendation from current (preferably) or former teachers who know you WELL. Also, while you are planning to submit two additional letters of recommendation, I’d advise you to abide by Yale’s policy/recommendation that no more than 1 (!) additional letter be submitted.

All the rest looks fine to me. I honestly cannot imagine a rejection in your case, unless you have several premeditated murders on your account… :D
