Chance for Reach Schools

Hi, I'm fairly new here. I'm applying to quite a few reach schools...

Applying to: UofM, MSU, MIT, Rice, Stanford, Brown, Northwestern, Princeton.
For: Computer science or Bio depending on school

This is just an outline, I might be forgetting a few things:

GPA: 4.23 weighted, ap out of 5, honors 4.5
SAT: 2230
SATII: 770 bio, 780 chem, 770 math ii
ACT: 35
AP: Lang, Bio, Chem, Calc AB all 5's
Current coursework: ap lit, gov, us. Physics and calc iii dual enrollment..

EC's: Eagle Scout, Varsity Swimming and Tennis Captain, 8 Varsity Letters, Plays violin in high level youth orchestra, research assistant at local univ, volunteer in hospitals emergency department, alumni of mathematics institute at local university: got lots of college credit in 300-400 level courses

And that's all I remember, I'm on a mobile device, sorry if it's cluttered. Thanks!

You have a great shot at UMich (assuming that’s what the M stands for), but the ivies are unpredictable - they turn down tons of qualified, excellent, accomplished applicants every year so there’s just no way to know! Good luck though.

Are there any points in my application where I’m weak?

No glaring weaknesses, very strong curriculum, and varied and interestingn ECs. The only thing missing that I see is research experience which the MIT’s and Stanfords of the world like for sciences and CS folks. Also, I am assuming you did not use an ED or SCEA at any of these schools.

My guesses: MSU and UM (assuming in state) = safeties; if not UM OOS is a match; Rice and Northwestern (50/50), Brown slightly lower than 50/50 but I suspect Brown will like your varied list of achievements and interest in the sciences and so I think you have a sold shot there even RD. Princeton and MIT - reaches (less than 20%) due to lack of a wow factor that makes you stand out from the rest of their strong applicant pool.

I do work as a research assistant at a local university, but I haven’t had anything published. My professor is writing a rec for the MIT app though…

I am in state, I applied ea for uofm, by my essays were kinda iffy. So Im a little worried. But thank you for responding!

With a 35 ACT, 8 varsity letters & a host of other accomplishments, you as strong a candidate as any Ivy can expect.

Thanks! I’ve also been looking into the Rice/Baylor program, but I doubt I have any chance of getting in. Some of the threads on here are intimidating. Any idea on stats needed to get into combined admission programs?
