Even though you say you prefer the SAT take both the SAT and ACT again and see which you pull up more.
Wait. You DON’T need SAT II’s to apply to Rice?
You do. You need 2 SAT subject tests.
Subject tests are optional if you submit the ACT.
It says “at least one of the following.” My D’s counselor advised if something is “optional” to do it anyway. My D submitted the ACT with writing and submitted 2 subject tests that she did very well on that related to her proposed area of study. She got in. If a school is very selective like Rice is, it can’t hurt to go the extra mile.
@jm208158 My son sent in the Act and did not send subject tests. He also did not do the optional writing. He got in ED. I believe you need to send all subject tests and one he did not do well in so he didn’t send. So I think it depends on how well you did. If it won’t add to your application I would not send unless you have to with the sat. He did well on two but one physics he did not because his teacher did not teach electricity and magnetism.
Hey, I think you may have a somewhat difficult chance of getting in, your SAT is good enough, just below the average at Rice, and your GPA is great! Although your extracurriculars are lacking, maybe you could get some leadership positions and some extracurriculars in areas that you want to major in.
In the end, i think you have the same chance of getting in as most other applicants.
I would really appreciate if you would chance me back, for Rice and other top colleges:
