Hey Rice seems like the perfect college for me, other than its a bit for from home. I'm coming from Atlanta,Georgia. I want to go for bio-medical engineering and/or physics. I don;t know if this means anything but I'm an African American male. I'm coming from an extremely difficult STEM Based high school. Literally all that is offered is honor class's, AP's, or classes unique to our school like nanotechnology.

GPA UW: 3.74
SAT:2110 Reading-760 Mat-710 Writing-640(bleh)
ACT: Haven't taken yet, expecting 33-34 but who knows
We don't rank
AP tests: 8 test, (Bio-5, Physics C:Mechanics-5, Physics C:E&M-5, Language and Composition-5, World History-4, U.S History-4, Government-4, AB Calculus-4)
Currently taking: AP Micro and Macro Economics, and AP Chemistry
Teacher Rec's: One will definitely be "glowing" as the cool kids like to say, the other on I have no idea how it's going to turn out
Counselor Rec: Will be amazing
Essays: Will at least be better than average, still working on making it memorable
Interview: Scheduled for November

Extracurricular/ Awards:
I plan a lot of events at my school like International Night, which celebrates diversity (and is actually a big deal at my school) and help plan events like our schools male-pageant that raises money for relay for life.

I've been a band officer for 3 years in a row

I'm co-president and co-founder of our school's GSA (gay straight alliance)

Vice president of Performing arts club

Co-leader of Partnership Walk which is similar to relay for life, except it rasies money to help developing countries rather than cancer research

Beta club member

Engineering Honor Society member

Science Fair sophomore year chemistry: 1st place at regional fair which moved me on to participate in State

AP National Scholar

National Achievement Semi-Finalist (pending finalist status)

I do some tutoring for Community service, but honestly not much

Internships:
Summer after sophomore year I was in a program called Institute on Neuroscience with Emory which allowed me to do research on leech neurons for 8 weeks.

Currently I am helping planning a science festival for my county as an intern with a local Environmental Center

I participate in Georgia's Governor's School, GHP, for physics, which included an extensive application and interview process.

So I guess that's all folks. I feel like my GPA and standardized tests are borderline, and I have no real "hook". Also junior year there was a slight dip in my grades from like a mid-A average to a low-A average, and I'm not sure how much that's going to be taken into account. Thanks to everyone who read this!
