Top 5% - attends public California school
National Merit Semifinalist
SAT 2200 740 Math, 720 CR, 740 Writing- one sitting
SAT II Math 800, Physics 760
Senior year schedule 6 AP classes most rigorous available
will have 14 completed APs including AP Physics B, AP Physics C (both parts) mostly 5s
AP Scholar w/ Distinction
3 years of Spanish was not able to take 4th year of Spanish because it was at the same time as AP Calculus BC.
200 hours volunteer work, mostly coaching soccer 9th-12th
Plays AYSO Soccer 9th-12th
part time summer job at fast food place- summer before 12th
COSMOS program 1st place team - summer before 11th
UC paid internship in an 8 week summer engineering program - summer before 12th
Vice President Robotics club 11th and 12th</p>

<p>It seems like Rice mid 50% SAT is around 1970-2270. You son’s SAT is on target for rice. Seems like he has solid/tough classes with a very good GPA. Being in the top 5% also helps. Good EC. It seems like your son is right on target for this school. Let him apply and make sure he writes great essays. It’s just a waiting game after that. Hopefully he will get into the colleges of his choice! Good luck to you and your child.</p>
