Chance for some ivies and top schools...Chancebacks

Yeah, but even if he matches the profile of many accepted students, unfortunately he also matches the profile of many rejected students. :frowning: It’s sad but true. I know valedictorians with amazing stats rejected from UPenn. So it’s really not a match for anyone. Same goes for the other Top Tier schools mentioned.

A match doesn’t mean guranteed acceptance. I might have been wrong about calling them safeties (i’m not sure if I did, I write too many of these haha). I stand firm in saying that these are matches. My definition of a match is anywhere from a 50-80% chance of admittance. And the OP may match both rejected and accepted students, but even though all of these schools reject amazing applicants with 4.0s valedictorians and close to 2400, they accept more than they reject.

From what I know about these schools, I’d say you have a very good chance at John Hopkins and Washington University. Your academics are stellar and your ec’s are very impressive. I’d also say that your chances at Duke and Cornell are very high - I know a person who applied to Duke with much less impressive ec’s and still got accepted.

As for Brown and U Penn, I’d say you have a decent shot at them, but the applicant pool will most likely be stronger than at other universities.

Good luck!

Your stats will definitely suit you for all schools.
ECs are strong but not stellar. Interning and laundry list of accomplishments is impressive but not eye catching. Can’t really feel a personal sense of passion or initiative. My best advice would be to cut less on the expansion but use the time we have left to really get into one thing and delve super deep til fall. Definitely think you can pull it off though. Congrats on those stats!
Chance back! =)

Cornell and Duke are matches, JHU is a low reach, Brown is a high reach, Penn is a reach… not sure about WUSTL
You have stellar scores (so jealous) but your ECs lack cohesiveness… I’m not really sure what you’re passionate about. Hopefully you can emphasize your passions in your “OK” essays. =P
Chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1167721-please-chance-me-top-schools-like-wharton-harvard-i-will-chance-back-asap.html</a></p>

GREAT stats, and nice EC’s, but you really need to bring out your FOCUS on your EC’s. It seems more like a laundry list and less focused on a specific passion, and I think that’s what colleges want to see.

i think you have GREAT CHANCES at: washu, duke, cornell, jhu.

brown is going to take some work depending on how much you’re willing to put in on the “soft factors” like college essays/extracurrics. here is where you need to bring some sort of focus/theme to your EC’s.

Chance me back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1165439-please-chance-me-also-can-i-actually-get-into-any-these-aiming-too-high.html</a></p>

That looks absolutely stellar from a purely observatory standpoint. Though I must agree with the multiple others onnhere that have noted your lack of elaboration on most of your ecs, though I must admit I did the same for the most part. You are indeed lacking a hook, something incredible that identifies you. If your musical ability led you to some international acclaim and high ranking, then that could be it. I think with elaboration comes a much deeper understanding of who you are as an applicant, which is necessary. In contrast, your exemplary SAT scores place you amongst the top applicants as far az that goes, but you don’t have that coveted 4.0 ;)

I think you will do well in applying to all of those schools, care to test the waters of HYP?

Chance me back if you will.

I hope you have many more schools on your list.

Penn: Reach
Duke: Reach
Better chances at JHU, Wash U, Brown and Cornell

Other Colleges
Reach schools: All other Ivies, MIT, Stanford, Chicago, Cal Tech
Better chances at Rice, NW, Vanderbilt, Emory, Georgetown
Really good chances at UCB, USC, UCLA

Being an Asian male will hurt you but not applying for FA will help you at some schools.

Your SAT scores and stats are definitely impressive and make you a competitive applicant. However, your ECs are a little bland/weak in my opinion. Nothing really stands out as something you’re passionate for- just a generic list.

Brown, Penn, Cornell- Mid Reach
JHU- Low Reach
Duke- Match
WUSTL- Not sure

[Chance me back?](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1167774-chance-top-schools-will-chance-back.html)

It would have been clearer if a placed them in a seperate category but my main passion is medicine which lead me to do EMT training/volunteering, a lot of hospital volunteering, doctor shadowing, and medical research w/ publication. Those would be my main focal points. I am applying to other schools, these are just the tougher ones on the list.

You look great for any Ivies, to be honest, but what are your 14 Ap’s? What are your scores?

Soph Year: AP Chem (4), AP Bio (5), AP Calc AB (5), AP Euro (5).
Junior (projected scores): APUSH (5), AP Calc BC (5), AP Lang (5), AP Psych (5), AP Physics C Mech (4).
Senior: AP Lit, AP Gov, AP Macro, AP Spanish, AP Comp Sci, AP Physic C: E & M

A very interesting array of ECs, I must say. HEre are my chances for you!

Brown, Penn - reaches (ivies…)
Cornell - Low reach
Duke, JHU, WUSTL - High match / low low reach

you have a decent shot at all of these schools. From what I have observed, people with your stats got into all of those. Your ECs might be somewhat not eye-catching but I would still say they are above average. Please chance back  http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1168605-chance-me-stanford.html</a></p>

duke is so easy to get into (i live in NC and ppl get in allllllll the time) you’re in there no question with that SAT. apply ED to UPenn or Brown, and you’ve got great chances there too :)))))

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1168613-chances-congressional-page-columbia-ed-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

You’ve got the numbers/achievements to be a very qualified applicant at all of these schools, but I think you need to be more clear as to what your passion (or passions) is/are. Is it research? Math? Service? In your application and your essays, you need to draw attention to what matter to you. Other than that, you have excellent shots at WUSTL, Duke and JHU, but the Ivys will be fickle.

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1168301-may-i-have-chance.html</a></p>

Wow. You are competitive for all those schools, I would say you will get into one atleast. Apply to a hyspm as a hopeful xD you never know! use a scea or ea for some schools.

Sent from my SGH-T959V using CC App

Nice! Wow. Well, I’d go so far to say you have one of the best chances I’ve seen. 2 Ap sciences in 10th?? Wow.

(Do you have any advice for AP cal AB…? I’m going to take it this year)

OK here goes. Good SAT and grades, bland EC’s that people do for college; i.e., FBLA (imo a big joke), Science olympiad (more of a tool-kit assembly contest), etc. Regional science fairs aren’t going to help much. Your Drexel internship is another random internship thing. So thats that. Expect rejects from HYPCM or the top 8 schools. Washu is so random expect waitlist. Brown you havr a fair chance. Cornell depends where you apply. CALS is harder than say, the arts school. Look into something like Rice, Vandy, or CMU and the sort. Looking at previous threads, all the leadership positions you have amassed so far seem rather impotent. Well, there goes your hopes of getting compliments online…

Oh, I guess you’re mocking me. Couldn’t stand a reasonable analysis i guess. I’m not even applying to HYPCM lol.
