GPA: 3.89 UW 4.09 W
(I also took math and spanish at my high school in 8th grade that are included on my transcript)
Rank: Top 5% Weighted. Around 15% unweighted I think?? My school is a large fairly competitive public school.
ACT: Composite 33. E:33 M:29 R:33 S:35 Essay:10 Combined writing+english:32

Slightly alternative senior year: I am taking a class at Reed College that takes up a lot of my time. The program is very hard to get into as a high schooler. I am taking a college science class, with the same rigor everyone expects of Reed. The director of my program is sending a letter explaining what the class involves. Besides that I have AP English, Ap Stat, Ap art, symphonic band, and elementary helper (working with first graders at nearby school).
I am afraid colleges will look at this as a weak schedule even though it is way more rigorous than taking all APs would be in my opinion.

ECs: 2 sport varsity athlete: lacrosse and soccer. I was a captain for soccer this year and I have league recognition. I was an all american for lacrosse last year. I have had my photographs displayed at many local galleries. I lead drum line and started a percussion ensemble. My main service one is working for an organization to teach ecology and environmental science to 6th graders. I also volunteer at an arts kids camp. I helped start a student union this fall. I was an exchange student for a month this summer and got a 4 on the AP exam sophomore year.

Letters of rec: Most likely great from my adv. chem and AP art teacher.

Financial aid: Going to need quite a bit. I qualify for financial aid.

Essay: On getting diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.

Extra info: White, female, obviously from Portland. I want to major in a science of some sort.

Schools:

Basically what Catria said, but make sure you are writing great essays (especially those supplements) they are so important for those LACs, bad essays could make your matches low reaches…

Bump… Also my uncle is an alum at Swat. Does this help at all? I have interviewed for Whitman, Grinnell, Macalester, and Colorado College. The first two on that list went great and the other two were alright but nothing special.

Might consider New England Lac’s-Holy Cross(don’t have to be religious) and Colby both very good academic schools. Holy Cross is one of the very few LAC’s that is need-blind for admissions(meets 100% demonstrated financial aid). HC also has strong science program and Jan.15th application due date.

Safety - 100%
Low Match - 85%
Match - 75%
High Match - 50%
Low Reach - 40%
Reach - 20%
High Reach - 10%

Also I don’t want to apply to any more schools. I’d have to request a letter from Reed which I have already done three times so I could see them getting a little angry. I am thinking I’m taking Oxy off the list as I like all the other schools better. Bump…
