Chance for Stanford, USC, UC Santa Barbara, and Berkeley? Urgent!

Good job getting a great GPA! While I’m not that familiar with the UC schools, I have definitely done extensive research on the Stanford admissions process. From my experience, I would say that even though you have a lot of amazing leadership positions, they definitely don’t stand out to a school with an acceptance rate of 4%. My advice would be to narrow your leadership positions and become more “angular”, as admissions officers like to say. If you put all of your energy into one or two of these clubs and come up with some creative ideas, you’ll likely stand out among a competitive group of applicants. I would DEFINITELY try to take more AP courses if your school offers them. For admission to Stanford, you’re pretty much expected to take as many AP courses as you possibly can. However, if your school doesn’t offer them, you are not at a disadvantage. Lastly, for a school like Stanford, I would say to get your ACT score up. Although 12% of the class of 2019 had an ACT score of 24-29, your application will definitely be more competitive with a score in the 30s (preferably 33 or higher). My best advice I would give you is this summer to sit down with an ACT prep book and study every day and take the ACT again in the fall. If you study constantly, I promise you will do well (I started at a 23 and am now at a 32, going to prep all summer to try to get a perfect). You seem like a strong applicant! Good luck!
