Chance for Tepper at CMU?

I'm finishing up my application for Carnegie Mellon RD, after I was rejected from Wharton this past week.

Taking several other classes at local community college

Extracurriculars: DECA Treasurer at my school, in charge of weekly tutoring at my school through NHS

Sports: Captain of Varisty basketball team

Work: intern at local business, helped to design new database system for daily operations. got a great rec. from my boss

Ethnicity: white

Good recs, and solid supplemental essay

You seem to be at the borderline. make sure your essays are really strong

anyone else?

Good chance. You certainly have everything that you need to get in. Tepper’s hard to predict, however, due its low acceptance rate. For the past few years, Tepper has been the 2nd most competitive college at CMU.

I disagree with Avocet because you definitely seem well beyond “borderline.” Your only weaknesses are your SAT score and your EC’s (you don’t seem to have a lot of them). In any case, good luck.

I’m sure you’re going to get in
now I’m doubting my own application hahaha

bump…

bump…

Post your thread in the chance forum if you’re really want more people to chance you.

lol how is he borderline, he is kind of in the middle…idk about tepper though…competitive.

Have you talked with the CMU basketball coach about playing basketball there? If you’re good enough and are willing to commit to play, some coaches can have an influence on the admissions process. Do you have a highlight film?

he’s in the middle for tepper

Basketball can help a ton. I’d say retake the SAT–you may still have time! Otherwise, middle-ish. A good hint would be to send updates to the admissions office if you do anything noteworthy–winning a state championship in basketball, winning a science fair, improving a course grade notably, etc.
