Chance for top Colleges!! Will chance back!

I've already submitted my apps but I'm so anxious so I just wanted some estimates on my chances. I've made a post before on this thread just for Stanford but now I wanted to see my chances at the other schools I've applied to. My essays and supplements are great. My GC spent a while looking at most of them and said they were all perfect. They highlighted my passion well and learning.

Chance me for these schools:

Boston University
NYU
Carnegie Mellon U
University of Southern California
Emory
Johns Hopkins
Northwestern
Columbia
Stanford
UChicago
UPenn
Duke

I have particular interest in the last 5 on my list. Do you think there is any chance of me getting in to at least one of those? Those are my major reaches.

CHANCE ME

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1439046-chance-me-uga-rd.html</a></p>

Not trying to bash anyone, but I wouldn’t listen to Newyorkmets. It sounds like he lives in NY (mets), so he gives you a close in for Columbia, but says you are in for Stanford, UPenn, JHU, Duke, UPenn, which are arguably just as hard to get into… If you look at his chance thread too, he is looking at a different “kind” of schools than you are.

If I had to guess, you will get into boston u, NYU, emory, USC, and then 1 of CMU, JHU, NWstern

Ya, my GPA is really killing me. I regret not working hard before Junior year. Won’t the all other aspects of the application help make up for the GPA? UW GPA is killing me but I feel like I have every thing else.

It will be close for all of these schools. The GPA will hurt, but hopefully colleges will see the amount of work you put in your last two years. Your research and sat I and IIs will be incredibly beneficial. I say you will at least make it into 1 of your top 5, probably more.

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1439514-these-schools-safeties-matches-reaches.html</a></p>

From what I’ve heard, most top colleges use the SATs/ACTs as a threshold. For example, I remember someone from MIT saying that all they look at from the ACT is that you get over 30 on each subsection.

These colleges expect that you take the hardest schedule possible, so unless if you have gone above the most rigorous schedule offered at your school, that won’t help you. Your academic record is the most important part of your application and it is lacking. Your ECs are mediocre. I like your research, but your ECs are pretty lame aside from that. Seriously, President of biology club? Sounds like a r

I’ve gone way beyond the most rigorous course load. I have record course load for my school. But I see what you’re saying though. Thank You wallrus75.

Your ec’s and test scores are great. For those particular schools, your GPA could be a little higher. Colleges are definitely going to keep in mind your course load and ec’s though. Your test scores speak for themselves, and your course load looks terrifying, haha.

Boston University- Definitely could get in
NYU- probably
Carnegie Mellon U-probably
University of Southern California- don’t know enough about it
Emory- probably
Johns Hopkins
Northwestern
Columbia
Stanford
UChicago- don’t know enough
UPenn
Duke
As far as the others go, you never know. I think you’re a great candidate, but with those schools, you can never be sure. Half the time it’s a crap shoot.

Chance Me?

Ya, I’m hoping one of my top choices will find something they like through my essays. Thank You! Anymore chances!!

Bump!! Any more!!

Stanford, Chicago, UPenn, Columbia, Duke: Reach because they are reach for everyone.
JHU:I was waitlisted with better numbers than what you have. So, I don’t know.

You will get into some great colleges.

I think that you’re in to most of them, depending on where you LIVE. AKA Stanford more likely if you live on the east coast, etc. Your SAT scores show that you are genius despite GPA.

PLEASE CHANCE ME!!!

Thank you both!:)

Bump Bump Bump

Bump, come on guys:)

Focusing on the reach schools:

Columbia - high reach
Stanford - high reach
UChicago- low reach
UPenn - reach
Duke - low reach

Your SAT scores are excellent, though your GPA is quite low for those five schools. For the other colleges I think you have a great chance!

bumpp bump bump

Boston University - Match
NYU - High Match
Carnegie Mellon U - Low Reach
University of Southern California - High Match
Emory - High Match
Johns Hopkins - Reach
Northwestern - Reach
Columbia - Reach
Stanford - Reach
UChicago - Reach
UPenn - Reach
Duke - Reach

I honestly don’t think you have a very good shot at those last few schools. Your GPA is low, and you don’t have the EC’s to make up for it.

Chance me?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1449731-chances-engineering-major-top-universities.html</a></p>

Your scores scare me. Though my GPA is higher and my course load is insane (11 courses, finish school at 6), I still feel that scores are super important so my 2100 will hurt me.
I think that your awards and scores will get you into northwestern and Carnegie Mellon, but you would need killer essays to get into UPenn, JHU or Duke, let alone Columbia/Stanford. But what do we know? We’re a bunch of teens on a forum. It’s ultimately up to the admissions officers.
I hope you’ll be happy wherever you end up!
