The mentorship and the Tutoring are only during the school year, and the Basketball Managing was only during the 13 weeks which are the winter sport season. Also the Guatemala missions trip was for 1 week and I went on the trip two years in a row.

And for some clarification, Head Prefect is a leadership position chosen after students apply for a spot on an 8 person panel of students who influence the school. Each applicant must write three essays and go through two rounds of interviews (one with faculty members and one with the current student prefect board). Each of 7 of the people on the panel controls a different aspect of school life (e.g. Student Life, Athletics, etc.) the Head Prefect works with all the other members and is the head of the panel.
(Head Prefect is basically the highest leadership position available in my school, even higher than class president)
(Sorry for the long explanation, not everyone has heard of prefect positions)

SAT Scores:
(Superscored)

Reading: 630
Math: 730
Writing: 710

Combined: 2070

My AP Exam Grade for AP Chem is a 4

SAT's II

Math 2: 690
Biology E: 690

I am waiting on results for my AP exams.

I have taken the most demanding classes that I could at my school (Minus regular english freshman year)

Recs are coming from my calc teacher who i'm really good friends with
another from my AP bio teacher who graduated from stanford and princeton and should be a very good rec as well.

So could you chance me please?

Thanks so much!

Your GPA and SAT/ACT scores are both low for a lot of these schools. You do however have great ECs and classes. Some schools value that but still…that GPA

I have to agree^ Your ECs are amazing, but your GPA and scores are a bit low. That higher GPA for a public school seems a bit disproportionate to me, since most schools I know do not weigh honors classes at all. Apart from Berkeley (which is high match for you), the other schools are reach. Just raise those scores and that GPA, get excellents recs, and write amazing essays, and I think you have a chance at those schools. Keep working at it!

Chance back please, and best of luck!

Btw Im in a state distinguished (very large) public school.

Is the 34 on the act low? I’ve heard different things from different users? Should I retake any of the tests? Thanks!

Top engineering schools want top students. Your GPA is far below their mid 50. Your SAT score is also low for top schools but your ACT is at above average. Nevertheless, your SAT2 scores are also out of the range for top schools. You probably don’t want to send them in if they are not required. These schools would be reach for you. You should have a better chance for other good engineering school like UIUC and Purdue.

Oh and thanks to both of you!

Thank you very much!

I have to say the GPA is going to throw you off :frowning: SAT min you would need is 2200+ and ACT is ok but I have to say most of these are going to be a reach. Good Luck!
Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1521933-suggestions-schools.html

Should I retake my act? Is it really just ok for these schools? Even with a perfect math score?

Bump 10char

Your UW is a bit low, but fine.
You should use your ACT where possible.
(Your SAT is a bit low, but your ACT is really nice)
Your SAT II is a bit low, but fine.
Assuming you did choose the most demanding course load possible in context of your school, that is a good, but not impressive, thing to consider.

You shouldn’t put every single EC you have. Sort and arrange them, and showcase the truly (i) impressive ones, (ii) consistent ones, and (iii) ones that you love the most. Don’t put every single EC on board, since that confuses people, and make it hard for admissions to imagine what kind of person you are.

Your volunteering is nice. If that’s the topic for your essay, I suggest you writing about the Guatemala one, as that seems interesting. If the Guatemala service does not seem important to you, ignore my suggestion.

I can’t say much else, and I cannot see your focus, although I suspect you have a liking towards volunteering. Condense your ECs.

Stanford - reach
UC Berkeley - reach
Duke - reach
Georgia Tech - match perhaps?
MIT - reach
Caltech - reach
Princeton - reach

If this is your full university list, I suggest you make some adjustment and seek out some other engineering schools. As far as I know, overall prestige doesn’t equate to good engineering, and individual schools may not fit you. Your university choice seems a bit random to me, but this is just my two cents.

if you have the time, give me some suggestions thanks :)

ACT is fine. But both unweighted GPA and SAT Math 2 are concerning.

Thanks! Any suggestions to thin down my resume? I’m not quite sure where else to look, any suggestions for alternative colleges?

Well, you have to think about who you are, what you like. Then, you should be able to thin down the resume rather rationally. It shouldn’t be hard and requires no external assistance.

You could check out certain college search websites. Since you haven’t got an intended major, no one could really suggest alternative colleges that fit you.

Sorry, forgot to mention my intended major, I’m thinking about going into chemical engineering

Try to improve your SAT2 Math2 and Chem scores to 750+.
