Essays: Very well written. Might be a little weird.. my common app essay is essentially an essay talking about itself.

Recommendations: Top 25%, not sure about my counselor's rec.
Teacher Recommendations: Top 5%, the teachers that I asked are two of the most highly sought after teachers for recommendations, and they placed me at the top of their lists.

Not sure if this makes a difference but my parents combined income is ~$40,000 / year.
I have absolutely NO assets or financial aid from my parents coming my way at all, dunno if that affects the acceptance rate or not, would like some input!

Basically undecided regarding major, but I have a slight inclination towards applied math and economics.

Stanford

Thanks and good luck ~

Leave link in post! I'll chance back :]

I’d say you’ve got a strong chance at the first 8. In fact, I’d be surprised if you were denied. I’m unsure with Caltech. Stanford would probably accept you. Harvard, Princeton, and Yale are iffy, they’ve got thousands of clones of you that apply every year. I really don’t know though, seeing as I’m not one of their admission officers.

NYU- in
Brown- in likely
Cornell- in likely
Wash. U. in St. Louis- in
Johns Hopkins- in likely
UPenn- depends. Wharton = reach, SEAS and others = high match
Dartmouth- low reach

Caltech- if u are passionate about science, then 50/50. if not then high reach

Stanford- reach
Yale- reach
Princeton- reach
Harvard- reach

Why Caltech but no MIT?

Whoa, you applied to way to many schools but anyway you’ll get in Chicago.

Stanford
Yale
Princeton
Harvard

For those guys I’d say it’s definitely a stretch. I would say if you had anymore extracurricular or honors to make you stand out or even something quirky you were really good at especially any town honors of local achievements.

My Valedictorian goes to Harvard. Smart kid his entire life… always involved in stuff in school in the community… Didn’t know him all that well so I guess my opinion should be taken with a grain of salt but the kid was smart ever since middle school and everyone knew it lol

University of Chicago: IN
NYU: IN
Brown: High Match-Low Reach (just because you’re competing with very similar students)
Cornell: IN
Wash. U. in St. Louis: IN
Johns Hopkins: IN
UPenn: High Match-Low Reach
Dartmouth: High Match-Low Reach
Caltech: Reasonable Reach (these are THE BEST tech students in the country, so it’ll be extremely competitive, even for you, haha)
Stanford: Reasonable Reach
Yale: Reasonable Reach
Princeton: Reasonable Reach
Harvard: Reasonable Reach

lol, I can’t really say you have a big reach, b/c your grades/boards are outstanding. I’d say the last 4 and Caltech are your biggest reaches, but def worth applying… the only thing that screamed out at me, was besides the amazing internship, your lack of EC’s and leadership in them (something competitors will have an edge over you)… your essay seems iffy, but the recs sound awesome; your transcript is knock-out

If you mind, can you please chance me… I have threads for all of my schools, thanks!

Oh I forgot the biggest part of my application [eek…], my art supplement!
It’s going to consist of 12 studio-level shots.

Here is an example of my work:

[Portrait #1 - Phillip on Flickr - Photo Sharing!](http://www.■■■■■■■■■■/photos/krnpro/4079559008/)

Thanks! I’ll get around to chancing some of you!

I like the lighting of that photo!

Thank you! It’s a completely unedited shot, only ‘edits’ was making it websized [originally it was ~40 megapixels… ouch!].

I’d say youre best luck is at Stanford, Princeton and/or Brown. You lack ECs but the grades do make up for that…Chance me back please
