Yeah You might want to raise your SAT or ACT to high 2300’s
But
BU, Tufts - safe-match
NYU Stern - match
UPenn - match-low reach
Cornell - middle reach
The others are def high reaches including chicago, but i think you have high chances if you constantly work on getting significant awards+ raising your SAT + keep up your grade

Thank you m00ngeek! Let me know if you want me to chance you back. And i definitely need to raise those SAT’s any ideas on good study plans (studying an hour a day?) However I do think UPenn is a high reach cause Im going for Wharton. Thanks though!

Well for critical reading, memorizing vocab is THE way. you learn 3000 more vocabs and SAT becomes a joke. But doing a full test and going over and over and over again would help you. Sacrifice a saturday morning or sunday morning to do a full test!
After a while you would start noticing the “rules” behind the SAT.
Grammer gets super easy after you realize the patterns of the questions.

Hope that helps! and you already chanced me :)

Oh alright right now Im using Direct Hits and yeah I’m using a specific grammar book for the SAT cause I suck at recognizing the patterns. So should I study at all during a school day?

Harvard and MIT are usually reaches for everyone, but I think you have an OK shot. Higher test scores would really help though. GPA is fantastic and EC’s are above average.

Boston U - safety
NYU Stern - high match
Columbia - right now medium reach
Harvard - right now high reach
MIT - low reach
Tufts University - safety
UPenn, low reach, but with good essays probably a match
Cornell, high match

Sorry to say this but the fact that you’re Asian will work against you, however you’re EC’s seem to be good, and in your essay be sure to try to stand out, and not just be “That Asian kid with no soul, that studies a lot”. For you’re EC’s try to do some sports in which you will be in a varsity team and may be recruited that usually helps Asian kids shred the “boring” label. Good luck in the future.

Thank you abulkhair37 I hope at least BU and Tufts accept me haha. And would my passion for piano and stocks help me stand out? Im not sure if I’ll do a sport but I do wish i was a McDonalds All American Slam Dunk winner but unfortuantely a 15 inch vertical won’t cut it haha.

Your academics look pretty good, and ECs are mediocre to strong, but the problem is that you’re Asian (like I am). You definitely need to get that SAT score up to around 2300, but your GPA looks good for a junior. Taking a strong senior year courseload would of course help, but for now all you can do is focus on getting 5s on your current ones.

Your chances will increase if you boost your SAT scores to 2200/2300+, but your ECs are still really important. Maybe try to focus on a certain area within your ECs that you want to pursue in college? For example, if you want to do law, try getting work experience/and internship at a law firm, or at a clinic if you want to do medicine. It will really help you decide what degree you wanna do, if you haven’t already decided.

Your EC’s are really good. If you get good SAT I and SAT II scores, then you have a chance at the top schools, but I can’t say match because those are very difficult to get into. Boston, NYU, and Tufts would be happy to have you.

Alright thanks! And andsowasi what if I want to go into business for MIT? Also how are my chances with my mediocre 2010. Will taking it twice be very detrimental? Finally, do you know any good finance schools that are around Stern’s level and entrance level? Im thinking Villanova

Try for a 2200-2300+ on your SAT, but a lot of the schools are just inherently reaches no matter who you are. If you do that, you’re a low match for NYU, Boston, Tufts. Good luck!

Boston U - low match
NYU Stern - match
Columbia - reach
Harvard - reach
MIT - reach
Tufts University - high match
UPenn, reach
Cornell, low reach
