IB (place score in parenthesis): n/a
Senior Year Course Load: ap calc ab, ap gov, ap lit, ap bio, ap studio art 2d
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Brown book award, paintings exhibited in 2 galleries, national art award (ravsak), national merit of some title (219- 203 was cutoff), hopefully ap scholar of some title, NHS, National art honor society, other school awards for science/history/art/etc
Subjective:
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): 1) co-founded an international and domestic organization HOPE, which sends supplies (clothing, bedding, toiletries, etc) to orphans in haiti and (eventually) costa rica. It started in my freshman year with a few drives to collect the stuff and currently has spread to elite private schools across the nation. I brought it into the camp where i work (the color war). Kids brought in supplies for points for their team lol (yay creativity!) and i did the same thing with my school's color war. One of the other founders went to costa rica and is trying to open connections to an orphanage there. But yeah we've collected tons of boxes, enough to fill a shipping container, and it's being sent to Haiti soon by this family we starting talking with. We have a legit website and everything (which im not putting on here, sorry!! haha im paranoid) and yeah. 2) ART ART ART ART ART!! I love art. I'm in AP studio art and have had my paintings/drawings exhibited in 2 places and have won a national award, hoping for some more later. I'm the vice president of the national art honor society and gave a presentation on working with acrylic paint. Uh I don't really know what else to say about this haha i'm tired. 3) Fit and Fun, working with kids with special needs teaching them to get active and have good social skills. Every sunday for 4 months at a time at a local community center. I did this cause i have an autistic cousin and I knew how hard it is to have those problems and I kinda wanted to do it for him i guess . I couldn't do it this year though cause SAT tutoring is at the same time, but i'm doing it again next year. 4) Yearbook editor in chief, made the entire yearbook for 2 years cause all of the other members dropped out -_____- lol 5) Other smaller things like NHS, Key club editor, operation smile, other clubs that I don't really feel like expanding on at the moment haha but i can say a lot about each
Job/Work Experience: Worked at a summer camp where I used to go every summer since 9th grade. I've done a variety of things there from helping in the office (answering phone calls, filing, helping parents, etc) to working with nursery-school aged kids (HARD HARD HARD).
Volunteer/Community service: See extracurricular activities
Summer Activities: Summer camp^, SAT Course, Shabbaton committee- working with other students at my school to plan the school's annual vacation, working on HOPE
Essays: Writing about my mom with MS and my father who passed away and how it affected me and gave me a newfound drive and appreciation for life. I'm planning on using a narrative style for this
Teacher Recommendation: 2 AP teachers, us history and enviro- hope both will be really good :)
Counselor Rec: Our school is moronic and they've decided to get a new counselor next year so I'll have to be nice to her I guess LOL
Additional Rec: maybe art teacher
Interview: idk yet

[Project HOPE - Homepage](http://www.projecthope.org/) ?

You seem enthusiastic about something. Not quite sure what, but you should definitely consider expanding on that enthusiasm in one of your essays.
Consider, giving your website link (if you have one), to the admissions. It should be quite impressive.

Your stats are nice, your ECs good. I’m not really sure what to tell you, but I do think your interests in arts and the organization HOPE will help you quite a lot. If it’s me, I would definitely focus on those. Especially HOPE. It won’t be hard to write a brilliant essay out of it.

For touching essays, consider Fit and Fun. That really shows your “nice-ness”. And it’s personal (your cousin). I suspect that this essay would be a really great hook.

Analyze individual school’s culture, and see which essay you should consider. Of course, if there’s more to you that I can’t see from your ECs, write those if they are central to your identity!

Your scores are at (or slightly below) the average of admission for top schools. Give them a try.

I would say you’re in at both Florida schools and Emory.

Duke, Vandy, and UPenn are maybes (actually, probably because you’re a URM.)

Harvard & Princeton are crapshoots for everyone (I know that’s been hackneyed and you’ve probably heard it a thousand times,) but I could definitely see you getting into at least one of them.

Chance me back  !

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1520857-chance-me-these-8-lacs.html</a></p>

A lot depends on your recommendations and essays. Keeping Harvard and Princeton aside, you have a healthy chance at all these schools.

skyrior, haha i appreciate that you looked  i would post it here but it has personal info and i dont know who could be looking at this thread, you know? but yeah, i’m definitely submitting it :)

billcsho, i’m retaking the SAT in october for a higher /1600 score. i checked the academic index with my current superscore and it seems fine, but it’s just gonna be a precaution.

marhsallmeyer, i’m not a urm though? unless they count jewish as urm lol. but thanks!

gadgetprincess, thank you :)

thank you everyone!!!

bumppppppp

I really like what you did with HOPE- that will earn you respect, even more if you are the leader. Your SAT scores are pretty decent as well, although the rest of your application seems a bit irrelevant (except maybe art? maybe expand on that). I understand you come from a small school, but that could hurt you, especially when they are considering your clubs and class rank.

I would put the ivies + duke at reaches, as they are for basically everyone, but you probably have a better chance than most applicants to these schools. vanderbilt and emory are high matches, and you’re florida schools are safeties

-harvard SCEA: Reach, as for everyone
-princeton: Same as Harvard
-upenn: Low reach
-vanderbilt: Low reach/high match
-university of fla: Safety
-duke: Low reach
-university of central fla: Safety
-emory: Match

Chance me back?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1524667-chance-me-georgetown-sfs-stanford-other-schools-please.html#post16135020</a></p>

I’m confused, the link Sky posted about HOPE, and the one OP seemed to agree with that being correct, says this “Founded in 1958, Project HOPE (Health Opportunities for People Everywhere) is dedicated to providing lasting solutions to health problems with the mission of helping people to help themselves.”

So…You founded this in 1958?

that’s not my website^^ haha i didn’t wanna put it up here! and no, i founded it in 2010, freshman year. i dont think i made that clear in the previous post

You should be good for all those schools except for Harvard and Princeton because as someone above said they are a crapshoot for everybody but if you can nail the essays you should be fine

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=1524990</a></p>
