applying to compsci.

I don’t think ECs matter that much for UIUC.

I think UIUC Comp Sci is reach (department) for you.

what does “reach” exactly mean?
thanks.

bump…

Some departments of colleges are more competitive to get into than others. UIUC’s Computer Science department has a lower acceptance rate as a whole (or at least 20more is implying that) than the actual school, which has an acceptance rate in the 60-70% range.
I think it may be a reach-meaning your chances are not very high, like 30-40%, as your GPA is relatively low.
Chance me?

Thank you Stevenf!

UIUC Computer Science department is rather competitive.
You need to raise your GPA and/or ACT to have better chances.

bump…

you could definitely get in if you go undeclared, but the computer science program at illinois is ranked very high so it is competitive. you will possibly have to up your ACT score and gpa. best of luck!

what about compsci in the las department

bump…
