I had much worse statd than you and I got into Uci. You’ll be fine. Basically, anyone with a 4.0 uc gpa is a strong applicant.

Did you get into the other UCs as well? As an out-of-state applicant, I would only be willing to pay the expenses if I get into UCLA or Berkeley–basically the higher-end schools. Otherwise, I’ll stay in AZ >:)

UCLA and UCB are a low reach with your grades and test scores, but are worth applying to. You should be able to get into the mid tier and maybe SD.

What’s the difference between a “low-reach” and a “high-reach”? Which one implies a higher possibility of being accepted?

You’re more likely to get into a low reach than a high reach. I think UCSD is a solid match. UCLA is a definite reach and Berkeley is even higher. They were very, very picky this year.

UCSD: match
UCLA: low reach (2100+ SAT)
UCD: low match / match
UCI: low match
UCSB: low match
UCB: low reach (if you get that 2100+ SAT score)

What’s your intended major? It might make an impact on your acceptance.

^_^ Your stats are actually pretty good! Your SAT score could be better, but if you end up getting that 2100+, you should be set.

(Oh yeah, if you’re still confused about the high/low/ match-reach thing, Match means that your stats are equal to the average person who is admitted to the university. Low Match means that your stats are slightly higher than the average person who is admitted.)

I would like to major in engineering, so yeah…I it means that I would need to do even better Thanks for clarifying!

You should be able to get into the mid UC’s (UCI, UCSB, UCR) with your stats. IMO, your EC’s are very good, 10x more than some people I know. It’s also good that you’re not settling at a 1920, since a 2100 would put you in match with UCD, UCLA and UCSD.
