Chance for UCB and UCSD?

I'm a CCC student looking to apply as a transfer for Fall 2013 to UC Berkeley and San Diego, and I was curious as to how a particular class might affect my chances in the admissions process.

One class I took in the Spring 2012 semester did not go well for me, and I earned a D, which brought my GPA down from 3.6 to 3.4 cumulatively. However, I am taking the class again this semester to replace the grade, and my GPA (assuming my current academic streak holds, and I earn an A in the specified class) is projected to be a solid 3.8 when the semester ends. Will applying with that class still hovering over me affect my chances negatively, or will they take into consideration more my overall GPA at the end of Fall 2012 and the replacement grade?

Everything else in my transcript checks out with mostly As and a few Bs, I have a strong extracurricular and internship profile, it's only this class that I'm seriously concerned about.

Anything I should be worried about?

UCs will replace the old grade with the new. So unless you’re applying for a really impacted major, it shouldn’t hurt you.

No, you’ll submit the transfer academic update in January and whatever grade you recieved in the course the second time around will be what they use in calculating your GPA. They won’t even be looking at your application before that time as they still aren’t done with freshman apps that they read first.
