Hi so I'm a Junior in high school and I'm trying to make sure I finish the year off right so I (maybe) have a chance at going to the my top school: UCD (actually UCSD but I know I can't get in there).

So basically this is going to be a theoretical chance where I tell you expected UC GPA and SAT scores, then I'll list the circumstances behind my (lacking) grades.

I'm expecting to attain a UC GPA of 3.84 by the end of the school year (actually with me doing some community college courses over the summer) and I've done SAT practice tests and I'm expecting around a 2100. My ECs are weak too... I have about 200 hours of community service, I'm a member of Key Club and CSF, and I'm planning on getting my Eagle Scout.

Now, I have had a HUGE change in the direction of my grades since freshman year. For example, I had a 1.9 GPA freshman year and I got a 4.0 GPA last semester. This is because of the many disabilities I have: significant bilateral hearing loss (more than 50%, so I missed many things in class), nearsightedness (started in 7th grade but eye doctors said my vision was fine so i assumed it was normal to not be able to see the board), and, of course, ADD predominantly inattentive type.

I know this is long, thanks to anyone who read it. I'm just so frustrated because I feel that if my doctors diagnosed my disabilities earlier on I could have done so much better in school. I will be SO GRATEFUL for any feedback.

Thank you!!

Oh I’m also taking 3 AP classes this year (Bio, English Lang., and psychology), first time I’ve taken advanced classes.

UCI, UCD: Match
UCSD: HIgh Match

I don’t think I’m a high match for UCSD…but thanks Anyone else wanna chance me?

Anyone lee please?

Definite Match: UCSB, UCR, UCSC, UCD
Likely Match: UCI
- I only put this here because UCI has been a little erratic in who it accepts and who it doesn’t the past two years.
Maybe Match: UCSD
Reach: UCLA, UCB

General Comments
- I think you have pretty good extracurriculars and a good deal of volunteer hours. I guess this is a little late, but try to get a board position and you should be set in that section.
- Your SAT score is pretty good, but your GPA is a little on the low side. Hence the reason why I think you may not make it into the 1st tier schools.
- That said, there is a section for you to talk about special circumstances somewhere, so I suggest you tell them about your problems just like you did here. You may also want to write about the experience you had with these problems + how you finally dealt with them in one of your personal statements.

High match for ucsd. Only if u get eagle

sphan95 thank you SO much for your input, which was very helpful. Thank you to everyone else too. But my GPA listed above is my UC GPA which is basically my weighted GPA… I thought it was terrible for UCD… and definitely not good enough for UCSD…

Don’t be too pessimistic. I know friends with a similar or lower GPA and almost no extracurriculars who got into UCSD this year. They applied for bio, chem, and econ majors.

Any more people wanna chance me?
