chance me back? (its short): <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/593325-please-chance-me-thank-you-advance.html?highlight=advance%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/593325-please-chance-me-thank-you-advance.html?highlight=advance</a></p>

Okay, your UC GPA is 3.59 and your best single sitting SAT reasoning test score is 1830, and your SAT IIs (not counting Korean, which they are likely to discount if you speak that at home) are 690 and 630. You took AP courses, but you didn't pass the tests (or didn't take them). Your weakness is Math--and you are likely to apply in a different major. Your ECs are between poor and fair--unless you held some leadership posts in Key Club--which you didn't elaborate on.

Based upon what you posted here you will be rejected at UCSD, you are borderline (probably reject) at UCD, borderline (likely accept) at UCI, and a very easily acceptance at Cal Poly Pomona.

In my view, you should also apply to either UCSC--where you are a Match and/or UCR--where you are between a Safe Match to Match. You should also apply to either Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Fullerton or Cal State San Bernardino in addition to Cal Poly Pomona. These will be backup schools in case you don't get into UCI--and will give you other optional places to go to besides Cal Poly Pomona (always nice to have options). The other thing is that you don't need to fill out additional applications to apply to these schools, since the application forms are the same ones you are filling out anyway.

Whether you get into UCI--which is the school you are apparently most interested in and likely to be accepted at from among the UCs you mentioned, will depend upon your teacher recommendations and the essay you write.

Best of luck to you.

UCSD: Reach
UCD: Low Reach/High Match
UCI: Low Reach/High Match
Cal Poly Ponoma: Safety

UCs and CSUs don't take recommendations though.

Must be a recent change--they used to take recommendations two years ago when my son applied--and his friend sent them even last year in order to get into UC Berkeley's nuclear engineering program.

Thanks guys! And more replies are welcomed! :)
