Hi guys, I'm a new user and I'd be really grateful if you guys would chance me. So here we go...

I'm an asian male going into his senior year next fall.
EC:
I've played tennis for about 3 years (not on a team, just really as a hobby). I've played guitar/bass in a band/with friends for the entirety of my high school career. I've competed in a robotics competition several years with my team members.

Volunteering:
I don't have too many hours, but I have about +50 hours so far at the local homeless shelter, and a couple other hours at other event. I'm trying to accumulate more during summer. My goal is roughly 80-100 hours

SAT 1: mid 1800's
SAT 2 Math2C: 660
SAT 2 Bio E: 640

I'm going to retake SAT 2 Math since Engineering requires a lot of math.

Overall GPA: 3.3

I plan on taking up Civil or Structural Engineering and I just want to know if some of the UCs are reachable since the admission rates are lower for our class (so I've heard).

it depends on what schools you are looking at–honestly i really think a handful are reaches (SB, D, I), some are high reaches (SD), and some are just prayers (LA, B) As for your safeties, I agree with the individual above.

I don’t think UCR, UCM, or UCSC have civil engineering. I don’t really plan on going to UCLA or berkley either way. I know the others have civil/structural engineering or other majors I’m interested in.

I also forgot to mention that my high school is a National Blue Ribbon School and US News claims it’s the 60th best high school in the US. I know this plays into my chances of getting in but by how much, I don’t know. So if someone could enlighten me how much it affects my admission into the UC’s , I’d really appreciate it.

Your school isn’t going to help. First, you need to calculate your UC GPA. Without that, it’s impossible to say. You can get instructions on UC Pathways website.

For the mid tier UCs, you’ll need about a 4.0 UC GPA. Your current SAT scores are right around average for the mid tiers. Engineering, however, is more selective than most majors so definitely retake the SATs for the highest possible scores.

I think you’ve got a shot at Davis, Irvine, and UCSD as long as you can make yourself stand out. It will be hard to get into the top UC’s as there is much more competition.
