Chance for UC's

I am a white male.
I'm going to be a senior.
Class rank is 1.
Unweighted GPA=4.0
Intended Major=Engineering(undecided on which type)

My school pretty new and is just now offering honors and ap classes.
I took honors calculus and got an A.
Next year I will take Honors Physics as well as Honors Chemistry.
I will be taking AP Biology as well.

So my weighted GPA probably doesn't compare to other applicants.
My counselor told me that our schools lack of AP classes won't be held against me.

I have very low SAT scores. I went into the test with zero prep.
CR = 490 Math = 620 Writing=470
I have yet to take my subject tests.
I will be redoing my reasoning test too.

I have played 2 years of Football, and have been on the varsity team.
I will have played 4 years of baseball, 3 of them being on the varsity team.
Next year I am doing varsity cross country as well as varsity basketball.
So for senior year I will be a 3 sport athlete.

For community service I coach the little league team.
This will be my third year of doing so.

I play guitar and have headlined performances at my school.

I went to California Boys state this summer.
I have also been to a Nation Young Leadership Conference in Sacramento.

I have also worked on an internship at UCLA with an engineering professor.
I worked as a lab assistant in one of UCLA's engineering labs.
I will be getting a letter of recommendation from this professor who has worked at UCLA for over 40 years.

What are my chances for UC's?
I know UCB is out of the question.
UCLA is the dream school that I want to go to.

Schools I'm looking at.
All UC's
Cal Poly SLO

Also I would be the first graduate form my school to go to a UC.
And the first person from my family to ever go to college.
I have been raised in the california foster care system.
And I live in a pretty low income family.

So please chance me.

I would definitely suggest that you raise your SAT scores. It’s essential! That being said, if you were to get very good scores after taking the SATs, UCLA could be a possibiltiy. After all, you are ranked number 1 with a 4.0 UW GPA. However, you HAVE to raise your score. If you can get it to at least 2000 or 2100 with some preparation, I would say you would have a decent chance for all of those. Best of luck!

EDIT.
My family’s income is <20,000 a year. sorry.

So basically I have a shot if I get over 2000 on the SAT?
Is that pretty much my only chance?

I wouldn’t say it’s your only chance. However, your chances will be significantly lower with that score. Take the ACT if you can. It’s more relevant to what you have been learning in school. If you find yourself doing better on that, you can submit that score as an alternative.

I’m guessing your school’s curriculum is a little lack luster? No one gets an A in any calculus class and gets 620 on the math portion of the SAT.

The UCs do give a huge break to some disadvantaged kids with low stats. That you are number one in your class is a huge plus. Do try to raise your scores but as the below article shows, you never know.

[For an illegal immigrant, getting into UCLA was the easy part - Los Angeles Times](UCLA said yes. Now, the hard part.)
