<p>Hey, I'm a Junior most likely applying for all the UCs except for UCR, UCSC, and Merced. </p>

<p>Taiwanese (Buddhist) Female in California
Unweighted GPA: 3.7
Weighted GPA: 4.2
Class rank: 23 out of 444</p>

<p>applying for Financial Aid</p>

<p>SAT: 1730 (UGH, HORRIBLE.. I'm retaking w/ a goal of at least 2000)
SAT II Chinese: 740
I'm planning to take both SAT II Biology (M) and SAT II Math 2 w/ a goal of at least 700</p>

<p>Senior Schedule:
AP Lit
AP Calc A/B
AP Chem
AP Japanese
Physics
Civics/Econ
PE/PE Health (one semester)</p>

<p>ECs:
12 years of Dance (Ballet, Modern, Chinese)
- Performed for local/international festivals
- Won various dance competitions
100 hrs of volunteering at local hospital
50+ hrs of community service (recycling, helping out, etc.)
weekly Bio Tutor for Freshmen who are struggling in regular Bio
3 years of Varsity Track & Field
Treasurer of UGC (school's recycling club)
.. and UCD's YSP/MSU's HSHSP (summer biological research program) [if I get in..!]
.. if not then probably taking local Community College classes during the summer</p>

<p>and I think I write pretty good personal essays.. I think..</p>

<p>Intended Major: Microbiology or Neurobiology or Toxicology (depending on the school)</p>

<p>It ALL comes down to your test scores and essays.</p>

<p>Your grades are high enough to go to any of the UCs, and your ECs look solid.</p>

<p>Unfortunately, UC LOVES the SAT, and typically the students with the highest scores and best essays get in.</p>

<p>That’s my advice for you. Make sure your essays are outstanding, and shoot for a 2000+ (even higher for Berkeley and LA). A 1730 is not going to get you very far in the UC system, particularly if you are Asian (which is majority.)</p>
