Try to improve your score a little bit. For UMich, your SAT is just near the 25%. For CoE from oos, it will be a reach. Purdue would be a high match.

@billcsho Is there anything you can say about UIUC regarding my chances?

If your family makes around 60k or less, apply for QuestBridge and you can go to Ivy League schools for free. You have the stats and it will give you a solid edge for schools like MIT

@HumNation UIUC ENG is similar to UMich in admission stat. Neither school does superscore but will look at individual section scores from multiple tests. The fact that you have large variations in section scores between the 2 attempts may suggest that you have not thoroughly prepared for the test. If they do superscore, or if you retake to achieve something like your superscore, your chance would be higher. Your current CR+M is within the mid 50 though. It would be fine if you are from in state.

What should you aim for? You need higher SAT scores for those schools. Hopefully you will do better on your ACT.

Did you take your SAT subject tests yet? Most engineering programs require Math II and another science.

Thanks for the input everyone
