Chance for UMASS Amherst

I'm sophomore and a Asian international student. I'm interesting in computer engineering. I was totally blew up my freshmen year. However, I did fine on this sophomore year. Please give me some advice what I should do in order to get into UMASS Amherst.

Freshmen:
-GPA: 2.47
-Not join any school activities.
-Do a little volunteer.
-Play sport outside school but have no reward or anything significant.

Sophomore:
-GPA: 2.9 (estimate)
-Join chess club (have photo in school year book)
-Volunteering once every month (Pine St Inn, about 4 hours/month)
-Not join any sport.

I'm planning to study as hard as I can during Junior year to get 3.9->4.0 GPA which bring my finale average to 3.1. And I will spend all of this summer to prepare for SAT.

Is there any chance that I can get into UMASS Amherst? Any advice that I should do to have more chance being accepted?

P/S: I live in MA.

Thank you!

UMass Amherst: Aim for 1900+/28+

Thank you!
However, is there any other factor that college consider?
For example, I look at the graph of student who apply to Amherst last year. ([confuse.png (598 x 364 pixels)](http://img.titank.com/images/2013/06/10/confuse.png))
And I saw that one student got 2.9 in GPA and 1900 in SAT but didn’t got accepted.
However, another student with 2.85 GPA and 1900 SAT somehow got accepted.
Another student have 2.9 GPA and 1850 and got accepted.

I wonder what another factor that college pay attention into?

Thank you!
