So yes this is basically it. I'm expecting a very good counselor rec detaling what i have had to go through during the past few years such as coming from a school in england, dealing with some depression during freshman year due to bullying and adjusting to a new public school system(i wasn't really told the grading system and only found out how it TRULY worked about 3/4 into the year). So yea feel free to chance we.

bumping bumping

Pleeeease chance me!!!

Your SAT score is low. Try to improve it to 1900+. You have good extracurricular activities and a good junior year GPA.

O yea i go to the #1 school in my state, it is very competitive

can you guys just tell me your opinions i literally don’t care.

I’m with Rain, if you improve your SAT then you will do fine getting into UM.

Improve your SAT or get that ACT you think you can get and I see you being admitted.

get around a 28 on the ACT and you’re in

Thanks, but will it help me or hurt me by going to a really competitive school??

One more bump!!

Lol I lied, I’m pretty desperate

Going to a really competitive school could be a disadvantage if you didn’t take advantage of many of your opportunities.

But great EC’s and upward trend. I hear the ACT is better for most, so try that. Its not just about test scores, and your extenuating circumstances will definitely be taken into account-maybe mention it in an essay.

btw-what other schools are you looking at?

Chance me back (look at last page for updated stats)!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1328975-what-my-chances-stanford.html</a></p>

A lot of universities don’t rank high schools schools, so I doubt it matters much in the long run. If you had either a stellar SAT or a stellar GPA/class rank being a URM I’d say you’ve got a good chance, but you have neither.

And don’t EXPECT to get a 30+ on the ACT when getting a 1680 on the SAT. I know some people do better on one than the other, but for most people, its usually pretty close.

Your EC’s might help, but a lot of them aren’t very substantial. Just being in a bunch of random clubs isn’t necessarily a great thing. Sending childrens books to Nigeria is great, but it’s not really an EC unless you run a program that sends them or something like that.

@swimmer2345 I’m looking most at big schools like OSU, UMD, syracuse, uiuc and some other schools, my list is really big tho like 15+ schools

@Etuck24 I don’t understand why you say I’m in a “bunch of random” clubs because #1 I’m only in THREE and #2 they all have something to do with my personality. The difference between the SAT and the ACT is that I’m actually going to be prepping for several months for the ACT while on the SAT I never really prepped apart from a few practice tests. But yea I’m just correcting you, other than that thanks for your input.

Being a URM gives you a bit of a boost, but like others have said, you should try to improve your SAT score: at minimum, by 200 points or so.
Otherwise, if you write good essays, I think that you have a good shot at getting in. Best of luck to you!! :)

SAT needs improvement/you need a decent ACT score, but you have great ECs and you’re clearly challenging yourself when it comes to classes. I checked a Naviance graph of people that got accepted in my school. S/he had a 1950 on the SAT and 95 unweighted avg, and I imagine that your ECs are far superior.
I think you’ll get in.
Chance me, please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1360737-what-my-chances-uc-berkeley-northeastern-carnegie-mellon-more.html</a></p>

O yea i just received my AP scores and I received a 5 on both comparative government and psychology exams.

alright official last bump

Have you thought about state schools in Miami? Although you are trending upward on your GPA, you might have a chance. But don’t make the mistake of putting all you hopes and dreams on one school. While I was reading your stats, and thinking like an admission officer, I just can’t help but question if you have the ability to do the work in college because of you low SAT score.

I think if you want a fighting chance, you need to get at least a 2200 on you SAT, and 750 up on a SATII Math, and 750 SATII of your choice, to prove to them that although you screwed up in you freshman and sophomore years, you are a smart guy.

Right now all I am getting is that you are working very hard to compensate for you bad grades.
