chance for USC, Cornell, Duke, Emory, UChicago, Northwestern, Tufts, JHU, BC, NYU

<p>Hey guys, I am a senior and I've been researching up some colleges but I have no idea if I have a good chance at some of these schools so help me out please! =) oh yeah, ill chance back if you guys give me a link.</p>

<p>Background: I am a first generation asian male living in Southern California
Major: premed, I wanna do biology or biochem but since I never took SATII Biology I'm trying to go as a chem major and then switch. </p>

<p>I got straight A's in freshman 2 B's in first semester sophomore (spanish II H and calc ab) straight A in 2nd semester sophomore 1 B in first semester junior (Eng III H) and 2 B in 2nd semester (Eng III H and SPanish III H). As of now, I have straight A's in my Senior year and I think I could maintain it. 5 B's total, 9 ap classes, 2 weighted honors...unweighted rank is like 101/825...as you can see I go to a very competitive school xD</p>

Won a writing competition
Golf 3 yrs by end of senior year
Historian of Key Club, one of the largest clubs at our school
went to mexico 3 times to help the poor as part of Student Legion of Mary (from church)
volunteer for 4 years at church helping mentally challenged kids
altar server at church 2 years
Volunteer at hospital helping the elderly over senior summer
National Merit Scholar (not sure about semifinalist yet)
attended a leadership course sponsored by UC Merced
attended a summer leadership course in a military bootcamp-like school (forgot the name but I have records of it somewhere xD)</p>

<p>I have over 500+ hours community service from church alone, probably around 700 or so combined?</p>

<p>I am fairly confident I can get great letters of recommendations from my ap chem, ap us history and glc.</p>

<p>^It will help, but definitely not drastically.</p>

<p>Do you have any other suggestions besides increasing my Sat II scores on how to increase my chances? What other things do I lack that other applicants competing in these schools have?</p>

<p>Besides SATII, you really need ECS that are relevant to your major. For example, Bio or Chem competitions.
I think USC, NYU, and Cornell are pretty good match for you.
