Chance for UVA/UNC, etc.

Hello CCers!
I know I am only a HS sophomore, but I'd like to see if I'm on track for the following colleges:
UVA
UNC (Chapel Hill)
Carnegie Mellon
Cornell
NC State
Purdue
Northwestern

A little about me: Male, student at an extremely competitive public high school (up there with the best in the state), want to possibly go into engineering (Aerospace, if not that, then become a pilot).

GPA: 3.8 UW, 4.2 W (This will go up to about 4.5 after this semester, and probably around 4.6 by the end of Sophomore year)
Class rank: Top 15% (Will be top 10% by end of semester)
AP Classes: AP Psychology (Currently: A), Next year/senior year: APUSH, AP HuGe, AP English, AP Gov, AP Music Theory, possibly AP Euro History.
All other classes are Honors/hardest available.

PSAT Sophomore Year: CR: 61 Math: 62 W: 53 (I am getting my English 1 teacher to tutor me here).

ECs:
Marching Band (Trying out for drum major this coming year)--4 years
Airport Explorers (Through CLT airport)--3 years
Knights In Action (Community service organization through my school)--4 years
Management in a virtual airline (<a href="http://www.usairwaysva.org)--4%5B/url%5D">www.usairwaysva.org)--4</a> years
Over 200 pictures on JetPhotos.net

I know I need some more ECs, suggestions?
Thank you everyone!

You’ve got the grades for all of those schools, and if you end up in the top 10, you’ll also have the rank. However, your PSAT isn’t high enough if that’s what you’ll get on your SAT (which I assume it won’t be be). I think with high scores and maybe some sort of ‘big’ summer EC like an internship or service project, you’ll have a good chance at those schools. Do something you’re genuinely passionate about. If you like politics do an internship at your local government, if you like science do research or something on a national level. If you like sports… do sports but try to get to a very high level. If you have a really good EC i’d say all of those schools (except maybe northwestern…which is difficult for everyone to get in) would be a match. Good luck!! Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1261160-please-chance-me.html</a></p>

Just my two cents:
All eager HS sophomores, freshmen and sometimes juniors want to take as many AP as they can. This is not good.

Since you are in marching band, I can understand why you are planning to take AP Music Theory. But why AP Human Geography? If you have no interest in the course, you should not take it; colleges will see that those AP courses are “space fillers.” Evaluate what AP courses you are TRULY interested in, not because AP courses look good on transcripts. If you are using your electives slots to take these AP courses, you should use those slots available in your schedule to add some course you are interested in. Maybe a language or some engineering-related elective.

Do you need more ECs? Remember: Quality over quantity. You have shown you are dedicated to some clubs already by being in them for 3-4 years.
