• Recs: again, stellar IMO, but I’m biased

All in all, i put a lot of passion into my app to demonstrate why i want to learn about business/life sciences so badly. (again IMHO lol)
What do you think? thanks again for doing this, if you want a chance back/advice on essays, let me know :)

for these programs, it depends more upon your fit

these stats really don’t mean much unless you fit in

work on those essays

thanks rastafarian, that def. makes sense, which is why I’m really trying to show the fit in my essays. whether its working is another question…

i say getting the stats is the first step because they definitely want smart people and then they find the ones that fit best. i think you made the first step HYPS!

thanks for the encouragement wangatang! yeah, hopefully my essays reveal my passion…

A lot of people who get into Vagelos have somewhat comparable stats, so just focus on making those essays work for you. Your academics are just fine, so no need to worry about those anymore.

Thanks for the kind words, legendofmax. Random inquiry: is there anyone who has gotten into vagelos/knows someone there that can perhaps give me alittle more insight on what kind of things they wrote about? just curious…if you don’t want to post publically, PMing me would be fine as well!

bump? 10 char

and another random question: for anyone else who is applying, about how long is your supplement essay for the LSM application

aand yet another question lol: how many LSM applicants are there on CC?

Hey! I got in Vagelos ED this year, but your stats look really solid! I really don’t know what they are looking for as I thought my Vagelos essay was really bad. If you want my stats, just PM me. I’ll be glad to help. Hope to see you next year and good luck!

thanks for your help zzdumdumzz!
p.s. check your PMs :)

Given your classes and previous APs it may make sense for you to apply to the Vag program in Molecular Life Sciences: [Vagelos Scholars Program in Molecular Life Sciences](Vagelos Molecular Life Sciences Program – Penn Arts & Sciences)

Either of the Vag programs may be good for you, and your profile is completely solid (though let’s be honest… saying a 760 on an SATII is “low” is just plain silly… a 560 is low… 760 is high). Show what makes you stand out from the crowd and, more specifically, how you want to contribute to the program and to Penn at large, and you have yourself a good shot at admission… at the same time, don’t think that Penn is GOING to accept you since there are hundreds of people with profiles similar to yours. If you can show that you are different, that’s your key. Also, find a hook of some sort. It’s out there, but you may not know it is quite yet.

chrisw, i didn’t realize that you could apply to a specific program within vagelos- to the best of my knowledge, i thought you have to apply to vagelos in general and if you are lucky enough to be accepted, then choose a track. Unless i’m wrong, which is very possible lol. And i def. don’t think Vagelos or Penn is GOING to accept me, i understand there are soo many talented kids out there. I’m just hoping :)

bump? 10 char
