I feel like I am forgetting some things, but I believe these are the major aspects of my application.

The school I really want to go to is University of Virginia (UVA). Does anybody have suggestions to schools that are higher rated than UVA that I could possibly apply for and get accepted?

Also one last question, anybody think it is possible for me to get a scholarship to UVA with my credentials but no need for financial aid?

Thanks in advance!

Also, my brother went to UVA and graduated in 2008, which might have a slight impact.

Anybody have an idea?

Hey, I’m a fellow south-asian from Virginia also!

Anyways, it seems to me like you have a very competitive application to UVa. Are you a resident of virginia? If so, you’re pretty much in. Even if not, I wouldn’t stress too much. If you can get your critical reading score to around a 700, and your math and writing to 750+ each (which could be achieved with practice), you might even want to send your application so some other competitive schols like Northwestern and UChicago (maybe even an Ivy, who knows?).

Edit:
I just realized you went to the boys state for Virginia, meaning you’re a resident… my bad hahaha. You seem like you’re in good shape.

Unless you raise your SAT score by around 200 points, Duke is going to be a reach.

@rva2012: Nice! Are you applying for UVA as well, or have you already graduated from High School? This is pretty much my #1, so I’m really hoping it works out. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!

@Spatula: Yeah, thats what I am thinking as well. Seems like my SAT is my most limiting factor. Thanks for the input.

No, I’m actually a junior in high school right now. But, I’m going to use UVA as my safety school (I go to a very competitive magnet school that basically feeds into UVA, so I’m not too worried). I know people who have applied to UVA from out of state and in-state, and it seems to me like there is a HUGE boost to in-state residents.

Also, just wondering, but what part of Va are you from? (you can PM the answer so you don’t tell the whole world).
