TEACHER RECS:
Both should be GREAT! I have personal relationships with both, so they should be glowing.

COUNSELOR REC:
Not sure. So many students and the school is understaffed in the counseling department. May end up being generic.

Your GPA and ACT may hold you back, depending on the competitive nature of your high school and where you’re from. Your classes and ECs are strong, and you seem confident in your essays and recs, which is important. I applied to Yale early with a 32 ACT and stellar ECs and was rejected, so it’s always a toss up. It’s good you sent in the art sup if photography is your niche. I’d say Brown and Cornell rather competitive, but mid reach with Vandy and far reach with Yale. Best of luck and keep me posted!

I think you have a decent shot at Brown and Cornell. I am not sure about Yale (but you’re definitely competitive)…at this point don’t lose sight of your goals or your passions. Colleges like to see, from what I understand, that you do everything becAuse you care about it, not just for admission

Your ECs and essays sound good, and first gen student can help you a little bit, and your portfolio if it’s truly exemplary.

Having said that, these are some very selective schools, especially yale.

Yale: reach/high reach
Brown: low reach
Cornell: high match
Vandy: high match
