Intern somewhere or get a job useful for my major in 12th grade summer year

Recommendations : (1) AP Lang Teacher (2) Former guitar teacher (3) ????

Is there anything really useful I could do to improve my chances?

One thing that might help is if you scored an internship in business this summer instead of waiting until you graduate from high school. Also, rigorous classes, good recommendations, and a good essay is also essential, but I assume you already know that.
Also, what’s your gpa?

Unweighted GPA is a 3.8

by senior summer internship, I meant that I would be getting one the summer before I went into Sr. year

Oh. Well, you might want to get as close as you can to your teachers and guidance counselors as possible-they’ll be able to give you better recommendations if they know you better. Also, you might want to take more AP’s or college intro courses. If there arent any, try taking some courses online. In the meantime, why not start thinking about your college essays? Maybe post it up for people to give you feedback?

bumpbump this is ten letters more

Oh, and one more thing, my race is Chinese

Congrats on bringing up your SAT.

1) Make sure you apply ED. That gives you a pretty big poost.
2) Get some leadership positions or something you can spin into a leadership role.

If I apply ED and (hopefully) get in, but I get a crappy financial package, can I back out due to financial reasons?

Also, would a job as a guitar teacher be suitable, or something like a business internship? Or working at a guitar store?

It’s a tad bit late for internships considering it’s nearly June, but never give up! I struggled to find something but now I’ll be interning as a Sales and Marketing Intern for a local merchandising company while negotiating product contracts with potential clients. Anything’s possible!

Now for the chances. Personally I think your scores and grades a little low for someone with your EC repertoire who wants to apply ED to Wharton. Remember that applying to Wharton is much much different than applying to the other schools in Penn; applying to Wharton is basically propelling yourself to the admissions difficulties of HYPSM. You really need a couple solid ECs that shows a long-term commitment to something you’re passionate about. Volunteering and community service is a great idea, and so are clubs! Try to find something unique that separates you from the rest of the crowd while pursuing leadership positions!

Wharton - reach

Best of luck!!

Chance me back? [Penn, Harvard, Chicago and More!!](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1509778-chance-new-guy-penn-harvard-chicago-more-will-chance-back.html)

Don’t work at a guitar store, that will do nothing for you. Try to get an internship in a business/finance related field, or get involved in some interesting extracurriculars.

You can back out for financial aid reasons, but my experience with Penn has been that they’re fairly generous with their financial aid.
