Also I know Columbia requires 2 subject tests and I believe Georgetown requires 3? For those you’d have to retake more or submit the ones you already have, as you need more than just the U.S History Subject Test. I’m not sure if you mentioned planning to retake them somewhere in this thread but I thought I’d mention it just in case
I can see you getting into several of the schools on your list. Good luck!
@KristiK97 Thanks. I already knew that, and yeah, I was planning on retaking the subject tests before regular admission deadlines. Thank you for taking time out of your day to chance me.
You could get Stanford or Harvard or the other Ivies. I encourage you to apply and do your best on whichever of them you feel most comfortable with. Don’t shotgun them, though.
Make sure your backup plan includes a way to pay for some of the lower ranked schools through scholarships, merit or whatever.
@JustOneDad Thank you, Stanford is my dream! I would love to go to any school on this list, so I wouldn’t feel bad about getting denied. A lot of them are partnered with QuestBridge, so I should get ample financial aide, including other scholarships like Dell or Coca-Cola that I’ll be applying to. I also added Brown and Dartmouth as well as Northwestern to my list.
Hopefully I am not out of place saying this( since I’m a rising senior), but maybe you should add more safeties? I know that wasn’t your question but I thought it was a good suggesstion. No offense your stats are awesome!
Did you find out what your AP scores were?
@Tookme10mins I’m OK with UT Austin. I don’t really want to go anywhere else. Thanks, though.
@jman457 Pretty much what I predicted, and therefore not worth reporting. I was in contact with a girl who got accepted to Yale, and she didn’t self report any of her scores. I was planning on doing the same and accepting the risk.
I think you have a great shot. Are you of black or European ancestry from Congo? Unfortunately any diversity bump will only help if you are black.
Your list of ECs needs to be trimmed down and collected into groups to make them more readable.
Is Duke on your list?
@PrideofCongo2020 okay. Well, that’s good. Good luck!
You are an extremely well rounded student, and have a good shot at any of these schools. I would consolidate these ECs and only keep the ones that show you went in depth into a certain activity rather than displaying everything. Chance me back please (be brutally honest)?

@sgopal2 Lol, I’m like 99% Congolese with a little bit of Belgian ancestry from my mom’s vside a few generations ago. I think Hispanics are also URMs, right? Among others, of course. A few of those were one time things, like HOSA. But, I am still participating in most of them. They’re pretty fun, so I don’t want to just stop doing them, if that’s what you mean. Yeah, it was #8.
@kobe24mamba Thanks, can’t you only report 10 ECs on the common app anyways? I’ll take your advice if not.
@PrideofCongo2020, yes that is true, so try your best to consolidate/combine any ECs that you think are similar.
@kobe24mamba Thank you, I’ll try my best to do that
You may have realized this if you decide to cut down on the extracirriculars you list, but if you do, make sure you focus more on humanities types (as long as you continue to want to major in philosophy and history). If you write in your essays about how important learning those topics is to you or anything, it would seem weird to have a bunch of science and math extracirriculars,
It kinda becomes a battle, because mentioning a lot of different types proves that you’re well rounded, but mentioning ones that are more specific prove devotion to certain subjects. All I can say is good luck with your applications! I hope you end up at the perfect college for you.
On a side note, are you planning on applying ED/EA to anything? I would suggest applying like that to your top colleges (or college, depending on how/where you apply) because that shows more specific devotion to that college-it says, “hey, I could have applied early to a list of options, but I chose HERE because I really wanna go here.” It’s especially helpful for athletes/URMs, I think.
The holistic approach by admissions staff will certainly assist you in the process but schools 1-4, and 6 will be reaches. On the other hand of the remaining 10, I would not be surprised if you obtain admission to at least half the schools. Your bigger challenge is to make a lucid and cohesive statement as to why for each of the top schools. It should speak of direct knowledge of each school (they are not interchangeable) and how you fit and would to their academic community. Best-
@MasterLillyclaw I’m only going to report the ones that are important to me. I’m probably going to keep TAME since I have a lot of accomplishments in there. I’m applying to Stanford through the QB match process.
@boolaHI I’m assuming you’re referring to supplements? I was going to research certain things I liked about them to talk about it, but it think it really does depend on the prompt. UChicago’s supplements are much more philosophical.
Also, if you could also chance me for Northwestern, Brown, and Dartmouth, that’d be great. And I’m not sure, but I think I may be able to secure a letter of recommendation from a retired, renowned politician in my area as my additional rec on the common app.
And I’m also applying to Cornell’s ILR school, if that changes anything. I don’t know what this means, but the university called me the other day. Sadly, I was taking a shower and only got the voicemail. They still haven’t replied to my email and call. If any of you guys know any interesting programs offered by these schools, I’d be glad to hear it.
