ECs are too weak.

You’ll probably get into the UC’s. I doubt you have a chance for the rest.

You have “chances” at the very top colleges such as HYPSMCCCP, Duke, Dartmouth, and Brown and so on. It is a good thing because some (or many) people will not have any chance due to their low grades or low standardized test scores.

HYPS: Reach (better chances at S if you are from CA)
Brown, Columbia and UPenn: Reach
JHU: Hard to tell
UCLA and UCB: Most likely IN

Are you an Asian (male)?
If yes, your chances at the very top colleges will be lower than “other people”.
Some people might disagree, but I know what I saw.
Cast a wider net to have more options in the end.

Do you know that Dartmouth (only peer evaluation), Duke, Wash U, Vanderbilt and Middlebury do not have additional essays?

Why not Northwestern? It is a great college and it requires only one additional essay (I believe it was “Why NW?”).

What about U Chicago if you do not mind “the essays” and “the workload”.
You will love U Chicago if you are a nerdy academic type of person.

Anyway, GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

I agree that your ECs are a bit weak to have a solid chance at schools like Harvard. Your test scores And GPA will help you out wherever you apply to though.

Btw 20more, let’s not lower the chances of everyone else in the US by encouraging people to apply to more places like that.

^^Don’t apply to a school because there aren’t any essays, apply because you have a real interest in attending. I agree with above - people applying to these schools just to apply are lowering the chances of people who really want to attend schools like WashU and Vanderbilt (that’s me).
Since I’ve posted, I suppose I have to give a “chance.” Your academics are stellar but your ECs are fairly plain. But out of Stanford, Brown, Cornell, Hopkins, Columbia and UPenn, I’d say you get into one or two. All you need is one, anyways, you’re not getting bonus points for getting into all of them.

I know that Harvard, Yale, Columbia are doubtful, but for UPenn, Stanford, Princeton do I have at least a decent chance?

chloeee

There is no such thing as “decent chances” at the very top colleges.
Do your best and see what happens.
I bet you will get into some great colleges (HYPSMCCCP included).

Upenn, Stanford, and Princeton are just as selective as Harvard, Yale, and Columbia.

No one can really tell for sure, because the Ivies are really random in acceptance. You have a good chance though. I’d work on those ECs and hope for the best. Have a great essay and recommendation(s) at hand- you’ll need it.

Good luck! I wouldn’t worry too much. I’m sure you’ll get in to some of them. You’re a decent candidate. :D

If you look at the results threads here on CC, you will find that students very much like you (and some with lesser stats) get admitted to all of these schools. They also get rejected and waitlisted. I think it is highly unlikely that you will get shut out of all the schools on your list, and pretty unlikely that you will get shut out of all except the UCs. (I don’t know enough about the UCs to say whether they are safeties for you–if they are, you have a sensible list.)

Btw duke does have additional essays!
