Chance if you could, or make recommendations

Hello everyone, the Common App is going live soon and it's about time I start getting down to business. I guess all I ask for from this is for feedback (positive or negative) and recommendations of schools that fit my profile should I not be a perfect match for Yale or HYPS in general. Thanks

Stats:
Taken just once: SAT I 2270 (730 CR, 740 M, 800 W) (I bet I'm not the only person wishing he could trade those W points into the other two right about now)
SAT II Math 1 - 750 math 2 - 760 chemistry - 790
GPA - 4.0 (im guessing) and unconverted a 102 out of 104 wieghted
Rank - currently ranked 3rd of a class size 366 in a medium sized public school

My course load is as difficult as possible, with any possible AP course offered.
my AP record is officially six 5s on US, Global, Calc AB, Physics B, Chem, Eng lang

Awards i've received include and are expected to include: AP scholar with Distinction, National Merit Scholar, All state classical musician and All county classical/jazz musician

ECs: okay here's a basic breakdown. I'm in every band known to man, lead saxophone in them all, including the all county band and a sub at allstate. My quizbowl team has gone to nationals the past two years in a row. Im in mathletes and the science honor society and the National Honor Society. I spent 3 years in the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth and received their state award for entrance scores. I also joined mensa... for fun

Leadership nonsense: I'm the marching band's drum major (just found out yipee)

Community Service: i play for free in a band that volunteers to give concerts at day camps and senior homes.

Hook: i plan to send a recording of the most rediculous saxophone song ever with my app, hope it helps.

I've been interviewed by a senior at Yale, and am considering the REA policy

THANKS EVERYBODY, TAKE IT EASY ON ME ALRIGHT I'M NEW and sorry if i screwed up the format >.<

It appears that you will be just fine. It’s really incredible some of the stuff you’ve done, and it’s nice to see another lead sax player. A few things though. First off, a hook is NOT your supplementary material (even if it will be awesome). It will help for sure, but a hook is being a URM, a first gen college student, or a recruited athlete. Second, how did you get into Mensa? I’ve always liked to join. 3rd, you cannot possibly be a National Merit Scholar (yet). I assume that based on your scores, you are EXPECTING to be one, but nothing is written in stone (unless you got a perfect score). Also, depending on what you are interested in studying, you should probably join a club or group concerned with that. Oh yeah, and your SAT is a bit (the slightest bit) below average (despite being in the middle 50% for Yale). The interview by the senior doesn’t really count because the only interview that really counts is the alumni interview.

Bottom line? You look as good as any student applying to Yale, even a bit above average. Write excellent essays and get great recs and you’ll have a great shot for Yale, well or as great a shot at Yale as anyone can have (which is still roughly 7% if I’m not mistaken). I’d recommend other schools, but I do not know where your interests lie

I’d love to hear about your music stuff and/or the Hopkins thing. Please PM me if you are interested in sharing.

Thank you for the guidance. It’s not allowing me to edit the original post at the moment, but future changes will probably be: change “hook” to just “supplemental”, as far as the NMS question, i’ve already been selected as a semifinalist i believe (or whatever the first step is) but im sure my psat score is not high enough to go any further. Perhaps National Merit Commended Scholar is more accurate?

As far as the major (physical science) related club is concerned, the only one available is the Science Honor Society, which i may become president of
