Chance international for boston university

Hello everyone I’m an international from India hoping to get admission in Boston university electrical engineering and my stats are as follows
SAT (first attempt)-2160 M-720 W-720 R-730
SAT (second attempt)-2210 M-690 (SO FRUSTRATED) W- 720 R-800 (yay! )
superscore- 2240
SAT 2- not taken yet but I’m consistently scoring full marks in math 2 and physics in my coaching center so full marks or very close can be safely assumed

Grade 9- 9.2 cgpa out of 10
Grade 10- 9.5 cgpa out of 10
Grade 11- 60% (family problems which will be mentioned in the personal statement)
Grade 12- 80% (I pulled up grade BIG time hoping they’ll notice that)

I interned at L&T which is a world reputed firm in defence systems and did very well.submitted reports and helped prepare for audit. Got stellar external L.O.R

Worked on a project regarding harmful effects of landfills on groundwater with college students. My name figured in their report and I helped in preparing report and did site visit etc.

I have published 2 research papers.
One on the situation of space junk and the other on ion propulsion in rockets which was under the guidance of a professor who earlier worked at NASA. Got stellar external letter of rec

active stage speaker and hosted entire school programs
Inter school Debates
Inter school quizzes
Varsity basketball (state and zonal level)
Inter school football

Assuming very strong essays (that’s what my counsellor tells me) and the fact that financial aid is not an issue, what are my chances realistically?
All help is appreciated Thanks a ton guys!
Please don’t sugarcoat and be brutual honest tho.

Should I apply ed 2?

BU graduate here. Math SAT is most important of course, and 720 is fine, but not a lock to get in.
BU Engineering is more competitive than overall BU admissions. May accept, may get waitlisted.
I know people wait listed with same SAT Math score.

Not being from India, some of your comments are unfamiliar, and confusing to Americans.
You are done with senior year/grade 12 but have not applied yet ?
If not, how do you know your gpa for grade 12 ?
Seemed your grades declined just at the most important time, at least here in the US.
A trend up from Fresh to Junior year helps, a trend down is a big problem for most colleges.
Senior year grades don’t usually factor unless you are graduated and applying after graduation for some reason.

SAT 2 is not considered at BU and many colleges.
Can’t hurt to submit if you do well, but not required.
Some colleges wont even look at it, not sure about BU since their website makes no mention of them.

Early Decision is always a good idea if your first choice.

@blevine hi and thanks for the insight!
I’m currently in grade 12 and the marks mentioned are the mid term marks that will be sent to the university. On the basis of it approximate marks from the finals will be issued (which will be significantly higher than 80% since Indian schools practice grade deflation in mid terms to help ‘prepare’ you to actually score significantly better when the finals exams do roll out)
That’s the way international admissions work in India due to differing session schedules.
Are boston admissions overly academic centric or is it holistic? Do you think my extracurricular may tide me through? Coming from India I actually have limited idea about the evaluation process.
Thanks a lot!

BU is the 2nd largest private college in the US.
They get 10s of thousands of applications every year. Grades matter a great deal, especially in a larger competitive school like this. Without top grades and test scores, they may not even read your essay at a school receiving that many applicants.

BU is also known for grade deflation, in many majors. So if you get in, you’ll be well prepared.
