Hello, everyone. Just got my december sat scores (dissapointed). But still these are my stats. Chance me plz.
SAT I - 1960
TOEFL - 107
GPA: 4.9 out of 5.0 unweighted (5.0 uw for all years except 10th grade, which I flunked)
I go to russian high school with russian as a principle language; its really hard to study in my school: no class choice, you have to have about 15 classes every semester and different schedule everyday)
My two recs are amazing (top 1% for almost everything), one rec is average and one is very good (from college professor).
I have spent 2008-9 school year in America for free in American high school. Ive been in Environmental club there, Multicultural club, did a 50+ hours of volunteerism, varsity soccer team. I do sports everyday here in Russia + English drama club vice-president, books club leader and some more.
My father is a college professor, i need really big FA though (wages in russia suck compared to american)+I guess i am URM, that might help.
Oh yeah, and my essays must be good. Not sure about grammar, but everything else is brilliant. Hopefully.
So what are my chances?

bump! bump! xD

Well, I am not quite sure, as I am in the situation as you but my ACT scores are perfect (36) but I have a low GPA, like 3.6 out of 4.0 for First semester Senior and I came to the USA at 2008-2009 year, and my junior year GPA is 3.8 out of 4.0 and I do not know whether I would get into Yale or not. But I Think you have a decent SAT score, they look not only at SAT but others. you do not really know what they are exactly looking for. Anyways, good luck!!!

somebody chance plz, will chance back

Fromrussia, you aren’t a URM because you’re an international. The concept of minorities only applies if you’re an American citizen. Internationals are pooled together. Fortunately, Yale is need blind for internationals as well.

It is near impossible to predict if you’ll get into Yale because you’ve given rather limited information, which makes your stats seem rather average compared to a lot of internationals. We need to know more about your level of involvement in ECAs and how much impact you’ve had on other people through them. Anyone can be involved, but Yale wants people who’ll make a difference. The SAT I might hurt a little, but Yale has been known to be forgiving to internationals who have shown excellence in other fields.

Most importantly, we can’t predict who Yale will take or not – we can roughly say if 1) you have no chance at all or 2) if you have a chance. Adcoms craft classes and admissions is completely in their hands. If you can show adcoms that you really do have a lot to give to the Yale community, they might just take you. Get your essays proofread by someone so that you can submit polished work with correct grammar. Best of luck.

So like previous people have said, it’s kinda hard to predict. I’m not really sure the stats for internationals, but there are lotsa really intelligent russians in college, hehe. Yale is kinda a crapshoot anyway, never know what’s gonna happen. Better chances at reed + oberlin of course. Best of luck!
