bump 10 char

you’re a super reach, especially with senior grades you mentioned

^sarcasm? I think you have decent chances…

i’m not sure… you’re borderline. i’d say around average to above average-ish shot if i were to guess. haha vague sorry.

np lol. a vague chance is still in the confidence boostage realm.

you don’t have many EC’s, but this is no problem since your consistency and length period along with your leadership more than makes up for it. Your scores are average, which is not necessarily a bad things. Looks like it all depends on your essays and recs, and also what Cornell is specifically looking for. I can’t really chance you though: I lack the full knowledge. Just telling you what I see =)

bumpety bump

…again

It’s hard to say; the ED results were chaotic at best. In my opinion, I think you have a fair shot, but then I thought I had a chance and got rejected… Your SAT scores eem ever so slightly low, but still well within a comfortable range (people got in with <1900 scores, so don’t worry too much about scores). How does does your school weight your GPA? Someone with a 3.87 weighted could never get into the top 10% at my school, and we’re not a particularly elite school in any way, so I guess your school must weight less and/or grade more harshly. Having AP scores of 5 will show that you are capable of college work to at least some degree, but remember they don’t seem to care as much about those (I got 5’s on all three exams I took as a junior, and apparently that didn’t help much). Your EC’s are solid, and you seem to display leadership and dedication.

Overall, your chances look pretty good to me, hopefully your GPA won’t bar you. But there really aren’t any guarantees with Cornell, so good luck.

soso chances id say… 50/50

Tell me how your essay will be like, cause a very unique essay can really go a long way. Admission people can pick and choose who they want to join them at Cornell with the wide range of scores, even if the person had somewhat good and okay stats (For me, I got in with 1340/1870 SAT I ~ Yeah…)
But still, try to put some effort into the essays. See what people write, and then see if you can write something inspirational, different, or something to show that you are capable of making adult decisions.

still working on the essay (I know…late…) but its about how chess influenced my general thought process illustrated in an anecdote about my opponent playing this one move and what was running through my mind as I thought. Im trying to show how I take a 360 degree attack on problems I encounter by looking through different ‘lenses.’ In the anecdote, I take a psychological look at my opponent, a novice look at his move, a ‘book-chess’ look at it, a logical look, a military look, etc… finally i see the combination of moves he’s planning, and realize that I’m going to lose…(still working on a closer). Theres some self-commentary interspersed between paragraphs and yea thas bout it.

well that’s the plan at least for my common app essay. still thinking about my cornell essay. an extension of it maybe?

Well for the cornell interest essay, you get a second chance to talk about something else. That is a good time to introduce a new topic. Two essays in one application.

true. still thinking thinking though :-/

any takers for my common app essay?
