Essay is coming along rather nicely! I have 3 or 4 written and in the edit process!

If you could chance me for William and Mary that would be great!! I'm also probably applying Hopkins, Williams, Cornell, URochester, SUNY Geneseo, Brown, UVM, and UChicago.

Thank you! I promise I'll chance you back if you want and I won't be offended if you say something negative! I just want some kind of perspective!

Glad to hear you’re interested in W&M. Sounds like you have many strong qualities: lots of rigorous courses, very strong standardized test scores and strong involvement. Not sure exactly what a 94 means in terms of your grades and class rank but hopefully a 94 implies mostly As which is of course strong also.

Just a quick note about recommendations. We require one from your counselor and then ask you send no more than two additional teacher recs so choose two of the three teachers you mentioned (our latest Admit It! blog discussions recommendations in more detail: [W&M Blogs Recommendations for Letters of Recommendation](http://blogs.wm.edu/2011/06/30/recommendations-for-letters-of-recommendation/)).

Also, you said you had 3-4 essays written. We require only 1 since we use the Common App and then we allow for one additional through our optional submission (a blog about essays to come soon).

Overall, you seem like the type of student who we would encourage to apply to W&M. We caution all students to remember that W&M is highly selective (overall admit rate of 33% and an OOS admit rate of 27%) so no one should consider W&M a safety school but you definitely have many competitive qualities. For more on any applicant’s chances and our process, check out our Admit It! Blog ([W&M Blogs Chance Me](http://blogs.wm.edu/2010/12/14/chance-me/))

Thank you! I look forward to applying! I have mostly A’s and a few (2) B’s …
I was wondering if maybe you could tell me which recommendations to use. My science research teacher is definitely going to be one of them, but I’m unsure whether or not I should have my English teacher or chemistry teacher write the other one. Any advice?
Thank you!

We’d recommend whichever teacher knows you better. Maybe if you’ve had one teacher for multiple classes pick that one. If, you feel both know you equally well, maybe use the English teacher since you’ve already provided another rec from one of your science teacher. This way we can get a feel for who you are as a student in disparate subjects.
