Chance me, a Canadian, for Pre-Dent Schools

I’m looking at programs such as UOP’s 3+3 program, NYU’s accelerated program, etc. I love the field of dentistry and I’m willing to do anything to improve my odds of becoming a dentist. Both my parents are dentists.

Which ones could I realistically have a chance for?
SAT: 1530
SAT Subject tests: 800 Math II, 800 Biology, 790 Chemistry
GPA: not sure, but my averages in grade 9, 10, and 11 are 90%, 95%, and 95%. Took french for 3 years.
AP Exams: Physics 1 (5), Microeconomics (5), Macroeconomics (5), Computer Science A (5), Chemistry (5)
ECs: Tennis team member for 3 years (and counting), head of the Computer Science Club, 40 hours of research at a hospital (my name is included in a recent paper), 20 hours of volunteering at a hospital, 150 hours of volunteering total.
Awards:

  1. Top 3 at an international piano competition at Carnegie Hall
  2. School champion of a few math competitions
  3. Distinctions on national computer science competition

Thank you so much for taking a look!

40 hours of dentist shadowing as well

Are you interested in US dental schools? Or are you going back to Canada?

I don’t know much about dental school admissions, but if they’re anything like medical school admissions, then you could be in for a tough ride. Most US medical schools focus admissions on US citizens. Most state schools won’t accept any internationals at all. The private schools save a handful of seats for internationals.

UOP is a direct program IIRC and OP has good chances there.

Thanks for the response! Are NYU and uPenn out of reach?

Thanks for letting me know, I’ll definitely work harder

Don’t overpay for undergrad or dental school. Nobody cares where you get your degrees. I think people have asked me 5 times in 20+ years where I attended undergrad and maybe 15 times where I went to dental school.
I attended UVA as an undergrad and UNC for dental school after getting residency in NC. That enabled me to buy a practice one year out of dental school and a house. Dentistry is really more a vocation than a science and personality and business acumen with determine your professional success more than anything else…
