Chance Me/Advice

I am a rising senior this next year and I’m having to fill out college applications now. I was wondering how good my chances are to get into Georgetown and the Ivies. I live in a very small town in MN and I am ranked 4/185 in my class. My GPA is a 3.98/4.00 unweighted. I got a 35 on my ACT and I have taken several SAT Subject Tests and scored in the 700s. I have taken 6 AP tests so far and I am on schedule to take 5 more next year, with 4s on all of them so far. I am the president of my local NHS chapter (11-12) and I volunteer regularly at my county historical society (10-12). I am in Knowledge Bowl (9-12), Knitting Club (9-12), Youth in Government (8-12), SkillsUSA (11-12), International Club (12), and the school musical (10). I have worked at a Bed & Breakfast (9-10) and as a babysitter (8-12), volunteered in my church group and at Vacation Bible School camps (8-11), and worked as a mentor with a middle school learning program. Thank you so much for reading all of this and I appreciate any advice or critiques. Thank you!

Your ACT score is great, and as long as you’re in the high 700’s for the SAT II’s, you should be in good shape in terms of testing. Your UW GPA is also good, though I’m curious what your W GPA is. I’d say your EC’s are lacking - I don’t see many leadership positions or local/national awards, so there’s nothing that really stands out.

Thank you for the response. I forgot to mention that I am an AP Scholar with Distinction and I won my schools Geography Bee. Unfortunately since I live in such an enclosed community, there are not many opportunities for awards.

Here is the most honest answer you will find: people on these threads have no real idea what your chances are. You are wasting your time with putting your psyche and emotions at the peril of people on the internet, that have no experience in admissions at these schools, to suggest what your chances are. Besides, if they say your chances are high or low, does that have any actual bearing on the decision that will result? Does it change your numbers in any way whatsoever? Will you decide to not apply if you get some unfavorable opinions about your chances, or decide to apply to more schools if someone says you have a good chance of getting into “X” school???

Believe in yourself, know that you have done a tremendous amount of work that you should be proud of. Boldly apply everywhere you so wish to attend and be confident that you will find a good school to attend that will lay a platform for you to begin the rest of your life.
